• Thiocolchicoside, a skeletal-muscle-relaxant compound with anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, is a derivative of colchicoside, a natural glucoside of the Gloriosa superba flower seeds. Thanks to its potent selective bind to the GABA-A receptor, it is used as an adjuvant product to treat painful muscle contractures, both in rheumatic and traumatic ones.
• Thicolchicoside has a high affinity for GABA receptors, activating the GABA inhibitory pathways, and for glycine receptors leading to a muscle relaxant result. This is the reason why it is considered useful in alleviating Parkinson's disease and iatrogenic Parkinson symptoms.
