ICT Texture-EEZ 3500 is a spray/brush/roll slip resistant texture coating for use on concrete surfaces such as pool decks, walkways, driveways, garage floors (with Sure Grip H2O), patios, porches, stairs and ramps. Texture-EEZ 3500 is ideal for residential and commercial applications. Now being made with our H2COOL Technology, Texture-EEZ 3500 will boast a cooler surface temperature and long-er lifespan than ever before! Texture-EEZ 3500 provides resistance against water, alkalis, UV rays, IR rays and staining.
- Surface Preparation
To successfully install ICT Texture-EEZ 3500, the surface must be clean, dry and free of algae, grease, oil dirt and other foreign matter. Make certain any previously applied coatings or deck systems are secure prior to installation. Sand-blasting may be required. New concrete surfaces must be allowed to cure a minimum of 28 days and should be pressure washed prior to application. Using ICT Sure Grip H2O (683) will also aide in adhesion to dense, non-porous surfaces.
Step 1 : Removal of algae, mildew, and other foreign mater may be achieved with a solution of either bleach or chlorine (diluted 1:3 with water) ICT Total Klean (710), all purpose cleaner and degreaser, is recommended to use in conjunction with these products. Rinse thoroughly to insure removal of all residue.
Step 2 : Etching surface (only when necessary). Smooth concrete must be etched before application. For outdoor surfaces, etch with a solution of muriatic acid diluted with a minimum of 4 parts water to 1 part acid. For indoor surfaces, etch with ICT Total Etch & Clean (740). Never allow acid solution to dry; rinse thoroughly. After etching, it is recommended to neutralize the surface with sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and to pressure wash with a minimum of 2500 p.s.i. to insure the com-plete removal of chemical and residue.
Note: While acid washing, if bubbling does not occur in all areas, contaminants may remain on the concrete.
- Application
First Application
Allow surface to dry for a minimum of 24 hours after cleaning and prior to application of Texture-EEZ 3500. It is important to always stir Texture-EEZ 3500 thoroughly prior to use.
OPTION #1 Roll Application: Two coats are required when applied with a roller. A 3/16” synthetic mohair roller is recommended. To achieve uniform coverage, apply your second coat in a cross direction to the first. Note: Using a roller nap larger than 3/16” may cause mud cracking.
OPTION #2 Taping Patterns and Stencil use After first color coat has been applied, make sure it has thoroughly dried. Grout tape may be applied wherever the chosen pattern calls for grout lines. It is wise to leave at least an extra 3” at either end of a grout tape line. This will make the tape easier to remove once surface is completed. Once the pattern is taped down, firmly go over the tape, pressing down using a broom or a clean cloth, insuring pattern tape is secured to the surface. Note that grout tape is designed specifically for this temporary use and should not be substituted with other types of tape that may be difficult to remove. Besides grout tape, templates and/or stencils (adhesive or nonadhesive) may be used to achieve grout lines in a variety of designs. If multiple colors are being applied the first color should again be sprayed down over the tape or templates to help reduce the risk of bleed through.
Final Coat Application
1-2 thin coats of Crystal Clear 2700 should be applied to seal the Texture-EEZ 3500 system. More coats may be applied to achieve the desired look/gloss. This application is necessary to optimize the life of Texture- EEZ 3500 and to aid in ease of maintenance and cleaning of the surface.
Coverage
Texture-EEZ 3500 will cover approximately 75 square feet per gallon per coat. Coverage will vary with substrate and thickness of your application. Do not apply thicker than 15 mils (1/32”) wet film per coat.
Drying Time
Dries to the touch in approximately 1-3 hours; light foot traffic and recoating in 3-4 hours; vehicular traffic in 72 hours. Low temperature and high humidity will significantly increase drying and curing times. The use of fans/heaters will speed up curing.
Clean Up
Texture-EEZ 3500 cleans up easily with water. Once the product begins to dry, the use of solvents, thinners, scrapers and warm soapy water may be necessary.
- Limitations
Apply when materials, surface and air temperatures are above 50°F. Do not apply in damp or threatening weather. Low temperatures and high humidity will affect drying and curing times. Do not dilute beyond manufactures directions. Do not freeze. Store above 30°F. Do not apply when temperature of the surface to be coated is below 50° F or when temperatures are expected to fall below this point within 6 hours.
