KIWO DUAL STRIP

DUAL STRIP is a concentrated liquid used to simultaneously remove plastisol and water-based textile inks, some UV inks, and direct emulsion and/or capillary films. DUAL STRIP can be diluted with five parts water when using a dip tank to soak screens as part of the reclaiming process. When applying product manually in a traditional manor, using DUAL STRIP undiluted will assure the most convenient and effective removal of the ink and emulsion coating, but it may be as effective diluted 1:1 or more with water. When diluting product, in house testing should be conducted to assure product meets your particular performance expectations.

Application

Traditional Method:

  1. After printing, remove as much ink from the screen as possible.
  2. Place screens into washout booth and apply DUAL STRIP (diluted 1:1 with water or full strength if required) evenly to both sides of the screen.
  3. Using a clean brush, scrub both sides of the screen thoroughly. Remember the DUAL STRIP needs to penetrate both the ink and emulsion layers.
  4. A short 2 - 3 minute reaction time helps to dissolve the ink and emulsion.
  5. Use a pressure washer to rinse both sides of the screen.

As with all stencil removers, ensure that the DUAL STRIP solution does not dry on the screen. This can lead to “locking in “of the emulsion and the resulting emulsion residue will be extremely difficult to remove.

Dip Tank Method:

  1. After printing remove as much ink from the screen as possible.
  2. Submerge screens into a dip tank containing a solution of one part DUAL STRIP to five parts or more of water.
  3. Allow screens to soak for 1 - 5 minutes.
  4. Remove screens, place into washout booth and rinse both sides of the screens with a pressure washer.

TIP: To get the best possible yield from your reclaiming solution, remove screens from the dip tank before the ink residue and emulsion has dissolved into the solution. The ink residue and emulsion will easily fall off the screen in the washout booth when rinsing with a pressure washer. This technique helps keep the dip tank solution fresh and uncontaminated for a longer period of time. When the solution becomes ineffective, replenish with fresh DUAL STRIP.

When the solution becomes too contaminated, remove solution and begin again with fresh DUAL STRIP and water.

Ink Stain / Haze Removal:

Apply and brush EXCEL INK WASH or KIWOCLEAN CONCENTRATED INK WASH diluted 1:1 with water evenly to both sides of the screen. Allow a short 2 - 3 minute reaction time, and then remove with a high pressure rinse.
