KIWO KIWOCLEAN AQ 508 STENCIL REMOVER CONCENTRATE

KIWOCLEAN AQ 508 STENCIL REMOVER concentrate is a concentrated stencil removing solution for screens. It can be used in a dilution of 1:5 up to 1:10 with water. KIWOCLEAN AQ 508 STENCIL REMOVER concentrate does not require the typical hazardous charge, required when shipping some concentrated stencil removers. KIWOCLEAN AQ 508 STENCIL REMOVER concentrate solutions are colorless and free from chlorine. KIWOCLEAN AQ 508 STENCIL REMOVER concentrate is suitable for use with all direct photo emulsions and capillary films, but not indirect films.

It can also be used in combination with KIWO water based screen cleaners, e.g. KIWOCLEAN AQ 808 INK WASH concentrate.

808 Ink Wash 2 gallons 40%
Water 2 gallons 40%

As a Single Step Stencil Remover

Apply the diluted KIWOCLEAN AQ 508 STENCIL REMOVER concentrate solution with a soft, clean brush evenly on both sides of the screen after the screen has been carefully cleaned of ink residue. Rub the screen gently with a brush to dissolve the emulsion.

After approximately 2 minutes, rinse thoroughly with a strong water spray. A high pressure water spray (1000 - 2000 psi, 40 - 60 bar) may be required for highly water resistant emulsions. Prolonged reaction time may result in reverse effects and does not help in the de-coating process. Rather, rinse the screen and reapply fresh KIWOCLEAN AQ 508 STENCIL REMOVER concentrate.

Ensure that the KIWOCLEAN AQ 508 STENCIL REMOVER concentrate solution does not dry on the screen. This can lead to a hardening of the emulsion and the resulting emulsion residues will be extremely difficult to remove.

For automatic equipment a dwell time of 60 -120 seconds after applying the de-coating solution is sufficient. If not all emulsion is removed, a second reclaiming cycle should be used to completely remove the emulsion.

As an All-in-One Ink & Emulsion Remover

For Use in Automatic Reclaiming Systems

General Instructions: Determine the capacity of the tank and calculate the required amounts of water, KIWOCLEAN AQ 808 INK WASH concentrate (808) and KIWOCLEAN AQ 508 STENCIL REMOVER concentrate (508). There should generally be two gallons of 808 for each gallon of 508.

508 Stencil Remover 1 gallon 12.50%
808 Ink Wash 2 gallons 25%
Water 5 gallons 62.50%
Working Solution 8 gallons 100%

For Plastisol and/or UV inks, begin with 5 gallons of water for each gallon of 508. A typical mixture would contain the following ratios of product:

For difficult to clean inks and/or for water resistant emulsions, use less water. A typical mixture would contain the following ratios of product:

For help with unusual inks or stencils, please contact KIWO, Inc. Technical Services department.

Mix the required amounts using suggested ratios above in the tank of the machine. It is useful to fill the tank only 90% full in initial testing to allow fine tuning the cleaning mixture for optimum results.

Notice: Never allow KIWOCLEAN AQ 508 STENCIL REMOVER concentrate solution to dry on a stenciled screen, as it will hardened the emulsion coating to the point it will be impossible to remove, or very difficult at best.

Ensure that de-coating, coating and degreasing always take place in separate areas and at different times. During de-coating, KIWOCLEAN a spray mist is produced which can settle on screens stored in the same room. When coating, the spray mist may cause localized hardening of the photo emulsion which will remain in the open areas after developing.

For Manual Use Cleaning

Start by mixing 2 parts KIWOCLEAN AQ 508 STENCIL REMOVER concentrate with 4 parts of water. Then mix 1 part KIWOCLEAN AQ 808 INK WASH concentrate.

508 Stencil Remover 2 gallons 29%
808 Ink Wash 1 gallon 14%
Water 4 gallons 57%
Working Solution 7 gallons 100%

Test the mixture on a typical production screen.

Note: The solution needs to be stirred before each use. Once stirred, the solution will appear milky white in color.

If more reclaiming power is needed, add more KIWOCLEAN AQ 508 STENCIL REMOVER concentrate.

If more ink removing power is needed, add more KIWOCLEAN AQ 808 INK WASH concentrate.

If the solution needs to be more cost effective, add more water.

Continue to adjust the solution ratios until the required working solution is found. Record the final ratio and maintain the working solution.

The products need to be mixed within 1-2 weeks of use. If the working solution shows signs of less cleaning, add more KIWOCLEAN AQ 508 STENCIL REMOVER concentrate to boost the reclaiming – add more KIWOCLEAN AQ 808 INK WASH concentrate to boost the ink removing cleaning. Aging depends on the system and ratios used. Monitor aging and report concerns to KIWO.

Safety & Health

Personal Protection

When working with KIWOCLEAN AQ 508 STENCIL REMOVER concentrate, wear safety gloves and goggles. Never allow KIWOCLEAN AQ 508 STENCIL REMOVER concentrate to dry on organic materials (e.g. cleaning rags made of paper, textile and various plastics) as this may cause self-ignition. If spray mist is produced, ensure sufficient extraction - do not breathe the fumes.

When mixed with KIWOCLEAN AQ 808 INK WASH concentrate, self ignition is possible if the active component of the de-coating agent dries out and in case of reaction with organic substances. Observe the instructions given by the manufacturer and ensure that no drying is possible.

Environmental Protection

In usual working dilution, KIWOCLEAN AQ 508 STENCIL REMOVER concentrate solutions can safely be emptied into drains. Please follow further information given in the material safety data sheet.
