In the food industry, it can be used as leavening agent, dough regulator, buffer, tissue improver, curing agent, nutritional supplement, chelating agent, etc. For example, it can be used as a leavening agent for bakery products, pastry, bread and biscuits as a starter, buffer, pectin curing agent (gel effect), yeast food, meat product texture improver, etc. Used in brewing, it can increase the brewing power and improve the fermentation capacity.
