Uses

EnviroClaw Formaldehyde Free Pre-Cat White Primer can be used on wood or MDF board, store fixtures, cabinetwork, interior paneling and trim, furniture or any application where a fast dry primer with excellent product handling characteristics is required. Amazing Glaze may be applied over EnviroClaw if you allow EnviroClaw to dry at least 12 hours. Formulated for job shop application.

Application

Application Procedure

Catalyzed type coatings develop very durable finishes but require controlled procedures. Do not apply material in too heavy a film (4 to 5 mils wet are recommended). Too much coating weight can cause recoating and durability problems. A thorough sanding between coats is always recommended. An excellent, very durable base coat can be developed by applying just one coat (apply no more than two coats) on wood and two coats on MDF board. Recommended total finish system dry mil thickness after sanding, should not exceed 4-6 dry mils. Always agitate thoroughly during application. EnviroClaw Formaldehyde Free Pre-Cat White Primer has excellent sanding characteristics. When sanding between coats, use Fre-Cut (no-fill) type sand paper. EnviroClaw may require larger tip than a typical lacquer.

Note: Hot spray application is not recommended. If hot spray equipment is used, temperature settings should never be over 110°F.

Mixing

Mix well before using. Material may separate during long-term storage.

Tinting

EnviroClaw Formaldehyde Free Pre-Catalyzed White Primer can be tinted using up to 6 ounces of MLC IC Colorant. DO NOT tint with glycol containing colorants. EnviroClaw is not a controlled tint base.

Equipment Clean Up

  • Use lacquer thinner to clean up all equipment.
  • Dispose of dirty solvent and cleaning rags in a safe and approved manner.
  • Solvent or lacquer-soaked rags should be stored in water-filled, closed containers prior to disposal

Surface Preparation

  • New Work: Remove any dirt, grease or other contamination and sand as required, prior to finishing.
  • Old Work: Strip old finishes completely and remove all contaminants from the surface. Make sure surface is dry. Finish as new work.

Reduction

When used with conventional air spray, HVLP, air assisted airless spray, or airless spray, EnviroClaw Formaldehyde Free Pre-Cat White Primer should be reduced 10-20% with M.L. Campbell Lacquer Thinner C16036, or Care Reducer C1621. The amount of reduction necessary is dependent on the type of equipment being used.

Testing

Due to the wide variety of substrates, surface preparation methods, application methods, and environments, customers should test the complete system for adhesion and compatibility under their conditions prior to full-scale application.
