Fomes Officinalis is a type of mushroom parasitic to needleleaf trees or broadleaf trees in Korea, Japan, China, North America and Russia. Its fungus body is picked in spring or early summer and used after drying. It had been written in Chinese old medicinal literature that Fomes Officinalis is effective in relieving asthma and swelling, stimulating blood circulation and detoxifying snake venom. In oriental medicine, it is being used for treating chronic arithritis and bronchitis. Also, agaricic acid in this mushroom is known that it supresses perspiration by tightening the capillary near sweat glands
