After the flowering season, the leaves recover its original color - green. In oriental medicine, Saururus chinensis is used for treating swelling, jaundice and uteritis. It is reported that Quercetin and quercitrin, some kinds of flavonoids in Saururus chinensis, have anti-oxidant and anti-bacterial effects. Additionally, it supresses the action of tyrosinase in melanocytes and reduces melanin yield.
