Mother Herbs (P) Aesculus Hippocastanum is an astringent, anti-inflammatory herb that helps to tone the vein walls which when slack or distended may become varicose, haemorrhoidal or otherwise problematic. The plant also reduces fluid retention by increasing the permeability of the capillaries and allowing the re-absorption of excess fluid back into the circulatory system. This plant is potentially toxic if ingested and should not be used internally without professional supervision. It also posses alterative, analgesic, haemostatic and vulnerary properties. The bark is anti-inflammatory, astringent, diuretic, febrifuge, narcotic, tonic and vasoconstrictive. The plant is taken internally for the treatment of a wide range of venous diseases including hardening of the arteries, varicose veins, phlebitis, leg ulcers, hemorrhoids and frostbite. It is also made into a lotion or gel for external application. A tea made from the bark is used in the treatment of malaria and dysentery and also in the treatment of lupus and skin ulcers. A tea made from the leaves is tonic and is used in the treatment of fevers and whooping cough. The seeds are decongestant, expectorant and tonic and are used in the treatment of rheumatism, neuralgia and hemorrhoids. Oil extracted from the seeds has been used externally as a treatment for rheumatism. The powdered roots are analgesic and have been used to treat chest pains. It has been used for swelling and pain due to varicose veins and chronic circulation problems. It has also been used for reducing the swelling of hemorrhoids or veins (phlebitis).

Mother Herbs (P) Adiantum Capillus is antioxidant, astringent, liver bile stimulator, blood cleanser, cardiotonic decongestant, detoxifier, diaphoretic, diuretic, expectorant, depurative, antidandruff, vermifuge, hepatoprotective, hypocholesterolemic, hypoglycemic, hypotensive, stimulant and tonic. It is mainly useful in respiratory problems, hair loss, gallstones, liver problems, wounds, diabetes, skin problems, diarrhea, and dysentery. It is helpful to cure jaundice, convulsions and many chronic diseases. Leaves are edible and used in making tea and other refreshing drinks. Leaves are used as garnished material on foods. It breaks up stone in the bladder, spleen, and kidneys. Paste of leaves is useful in headaches and chest pains.

Mother Herbs (P) Cassia Occidentalis is bitter, purgative, laxative, anti-inflammatory, expectorant, hepatoprotective, anti-malarial, analgesic, vermifuge and febrifuge. It mainly used to detoxify liver, use to cure internal bacterial and fungal disorders, to kill parasites and viruses, enhances immunity, and promotes perspiration. It is also helpful in cough, convulsions, reduces blood pressure, reduces spasms and as cardiotonic. It gives vitality and vigor and helps in building greater endurance. Ashwagandha has been used in diseases such as rheumatism, leprosy and arthritis. Used to treat general debility, arthritis, depression, chronic fatigue, insomnia, anxiety, depressed immunity, infertility and memory loss. It increases the iron content in the blood.

Mother Herbs (P) Acacia Catechu is strong antioxidant, astringent, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal in nature. It is useful in passive diarrhea, high blood pressure, dysentery, colitis, gastric problems, bronchial asthma, cough, leucorrhoea and leprosy. Leaves are haemopoictic, hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, analgesic, antidiabetic, stomachic, ophthalmic, diuretic and liver tonic. It is used in hepatic obstruction, jaundice, arthritis, rheumatism and diseases of urinogenital tract. It is useful in flatulence and other stomach related diseases. It is useful in anemia and for treating blood diseases. It is used to lower the blood sugar level. Seeds are gelatinous, febrifuge, rejuvenating and nervine tonic. It is used in burning sensation, fever and headaches. It is also used in diarrhea and dysentery. A paste of the seeds mixed with buttermilk or whey, is given for diarrhea. A decoction of the roots is used as a diuretic and to treat rheumatism, gonorrhea, and other diseases of the genito-urinary tract, jaundice and anasarca.

Mother Herbs (P) Achillea Millefolium is anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antispasmodic, aromatic, carminative, cholagogue, diuretic, digestive, emmenagogue, stimulant, homeostatic, vasodilator and tonic. It is useful in curing cold, influenza, heavy chest colds, chicken pox, diabetes, fever, flu’s, measles, menses, menorrhagia, soreness, piles, stomach sickness, flatulence, heartburn, colic, liver diseases, toothache, ulcers, infections, swelling and urinary diseases. It is also helpful in curing internal and external bleeding, blood clots, and act as blood-purifier and tones blood vessels. The leaves and flower heads are used as a tonic and vapor bath for fever. It has hypotensive effect.

Mother Herbs (P) Abutilon Indicum is sweet, cooling, digestive, laxative, expectorant, diuretic, astringent, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anthelmintic, demulcent and . It is useful in gout, tuberculosis, ulcers, bleeding disorders, and worms. Decoction used in toothache and tender gums. Demulcents of leaves are locally applied to boils and ulcers. Roots are prescribed in fever, chest affection and urethritis.

Mother Herbs (P) Berberis Aristata is anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, astringent, alternative, antipyretic, antiperiodic, anti-septic, anti-cancer, bitter, cholagogue, diaphoretic, emmenagogue, laxative, stomachic and sweat-inducing. It is mainly used in eye diseases, hemorrhoids, amenorrhoea, leucorrhoea, piles, sores, peptic ulcers, dysentery, heartburn, indigestion, hepatitis, intermittent fever, and chronic ophthalmia. An infusion of root is useful in treatment of malaria, skin diseases, diarrhea and jaundice. A decoction is used as mouthwash for treating swollen gums and toothache. It is also used to treat infections, eczema, parasites, psoriasis, and vaginitis. Roots are hypoglycemic, anti-inflammatory and stimulate the cardiovascular system. Root bark is anticoagulant and hypotensive in nature.

Mother Herbs (P) Boerhavia Diffusa is bitter, anemia, cooling, heart diseases, astringent to bowels, useful in biliousness, blood impurities, leucorrhoea, asthma, alternatives etc. The leaves are useful in dyspepsia, tumors, abdominal pains, and spleen enlargement. According to Unani system of medicine, the leaves are appetizers, alexiteric, useful in opthalmia and in joint pains. Seeds are tonic expectorant, carminative, useful in lumbago, scabies. The seeds are considered as promising blood purifier. Roots are used to treat gonorrhea, all internal inflammation and edema. Roots stimulate the emptying of the gallbladder, as a diuretic, for all types of liver disorders (including jaundice and hepatitis), gallbladder pain and stones, urinary tract disorders, renal disorders, kidney stones, cystitis, and nephritis.

Mother Herbs (P) Anethum Graveolens are acrid, aromatic, bitter, digestive, carminative, stomachic, stimulant, antispasmodic, antihelmintic, anodyne, anti-inflammatory, diuretic, emmenagogue, galactagogue, expectorant, cardiotonic, febrifuge, antispasmodic and antidysenteric. It is useful in flatulence, colic, dyspepsia, intestinal worms, digestive problems, insomnia, inflammation, hiccough, cough, asthma, bronchitis, fever, ulcers, skin diseases, hemorrhoids and cardiac debility. It acts as stimulant for lactation. Fruits and leaves are used as spice for flavoring salads, soups, pickles and breads, mainly by food industry. It is also used as insecticide. Dill's essential oil relieves intestinal spasms and griping and helps to settle colic, hence it is often used in gripe water mixtures. Also used in making vinegar & as a flavoring in pickled gherkins.

Mother Herbs (P) Andrographis Paniculata has been found to be an effective anti-biotic, anti-viral, anti-parasitic and immune system stimulant. It is used in viral hepatitis, children's bowel complaints, gastric acidity, liver congestion, flatulence. It is being increasingly used as treatment for colds. Reasonably good evidence tells us that it can reduce the severity of cold symptoms. It may also help prevent colds. Preliminary evidence suggests that it stimulate immunity, potentially making it useful for general immune support. Interestingly, the ingredient of Andrographis used for standardization purposes, andrographolide, does not appear to affect the immune system as much as the whole plant extract. Preliminary studies in animals also suggest that andrographis may offer benefits for preventing heart disease. In addition, highly preliminary studies suggest that andrographis may help protect the liver from toxic injury, perhaps more successfully than the more famous liver-protective herb milk thistle. Decoction of the plant is blood purifier and is used for cure of torpid liver. Tincture of roots is tonic, stimulant and aperient.
