    The scientific name for Amla is Emblica officinalis. It’s more commonly known as Indian gooseberry . Synonyms are: Awla, Amalake, Aamla, Aavalaa, Amlaki, and numerous others. It is a fruit-producing tree of 12-18 feet high that grows in central and northern India. The flowers are greenish-yellow. The fruit is nearly spherical, light greenish yellow, quite smooth and hard on appearance, with 6 vertical stripes or furrows. it is a fruit with several medicinal properties.
