- Direct antibacterial effect: interaction with nucleic acid inhibiting cell growth.
- Reduction of the adhesion of bacteria to the surface of the epithelial mucosa (inhibits the formation of fimbrilar structure) and inhibition of enterotoxin production.
- Inhibition of intestinal fluid accumulation and ion secretion.
- Reduction of intestinal motility, delaying intestinal transit.
