Health Science Summary

Published clinical science has established:

  • Ahiflower oil boosts circulating EPA up to 4x more efficiently than flaxseed oil. (Fig. 1)
  • Ahiflower is the richest combined source of antiinflammatory omega-3 SDA & omega-6 GLA.
  • Ahiflower oil upregulates the anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10 which is part of the body’s natural response to intensive exercise and/or seasonal immune challenge.
  • Ahiflower boosts other anti-inflammatory omega metabolites including ETA & DGLA which are not enhanced by consuming typical fish oil.
  • Ahiflower boosts live probiotic survival into the small intestine up to 2x vs probiotics alone.
  • Ahiflower oil converts efficiently to circulating DHA in mammals4. (Fig. 2)
  • Algal DHA is a vegan source of omega-3 DHA and is a key building block of human organs. As a structural component of brain, retina, testis, and sperm, DHA functions are linked to proper tissue growth. Therefore, DHA needs to be supplied in sufficient amounts during early human development and growth.
  • Some investigations have shown a progressive deterioration of maternal DHA status during pregnancy, possibly indicating that the mother’s capacity to meet the high fetal requirement for DHA is working at its limit and may even be inadequate. Therefore, an additional amount of DHA is recommended for lactating and pregnant women with an increasing amount from first to second trimester of pregnancy.

Ahiflower boosts circulating plasma EPA up to 4x more efficiently vs flaxseed oil and has preliminary evidence of efficient DHA biosynthesis (comparable to marine DHA) in mice.

Storage Conditions And Shelf Life
  • Ahiflower 80DHA oils are packaged under nitrogen gas.
  • Each oil is guaranteed to meet all product specifications when stored in original, unopened 190 kg steel drums for up to 1 month at room temperature (25°C), up to 12 months at refrigerated temperature (4°C), and up to 24 months under frozen storage conditions (< -18°C) from the date of manufacture.
  • For extended storage and for best sensory performance, frozen storage is recommended.
