Nytef Plastics, Ltd. is now a division of Polymers Industries. Nytef's equipment and technology was moved to Polymer Industries' Mechanical Division in Pisgah, AL. This acquisition enabled Polymer Industries to add a wide range of Engineered Plastics and High Performance Materials in a variety of shapes and sizes to their manufacturing portfolio. They manufacture and stock a full line of thermoplastic materials in a wide variety of rod, plate and tubular bar sizes. In addition, they offer over 30 years of experience in the custom extrusion of application-specific and proprietary resins to meet even the most demanding performance requirements. All products and is certified to ISO 9002 standards for the manufacture of extruded plastic stock shapes. These materials are supplied to a variety of industries including food processing, materials handling, architectural, marine, construction, and semiconductor electronics.

Nytef Plastics ULTRAPOLY

Polyslick® UHMW Sheet exhibits the properties of excellent impact strength, abrasion resistance, low coefficient of friction, as well as very good chemical resistance. This industrial grade material is also moisture, stain and odor resistant, and is FDA approved to be used in the food processing industry. The material is ideally suited for wear applications especially in contact with metals. UHMW is widely used in industrial applications such as chute linings, dock bumpers, paper machine parts, and conveyor wear strips and can easily be machined with ordinary wood working tools.

POLYSLICK UHMW SHEET

MECHETEC® PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride) is a non-reinforced highly crystalline fluoropolymer that combines exceptional chemical resistance with superior strength and stability. When compared with traditional fluoropolymers like PTFE, MECHETEC® PVDF offers up to three times the typical strength and stiffness while maintaining unparalleled resistance to even the harshest chemicals—even at temperatures up to 300°F. These properties, along with its natural flame retardency (UL94, V-0) and ultrahigh purity have made it the material of choice for processing equipment components used in semiconductor manufacturing clean room environments. Because it also offers excellent toughness and electrical properties that remain stable over a wide range of both frequencies and temperatures, MECHETEC® PVDF is also often used in components used for power transmission. MECHETEC® PVDF is offered in two grades; MECHETEC® PVDF 740 (beige) and MECHETEC® PVDF 1010 (white). Both grades machine easily and are available in a full range of heavy gage rod and plate sizes. Formally known as Uninar PVDF.

MECHATEC ACETAL is a Polyoxymethylene Copolymer ( POM-C ) which has excellent machining stability, high strength and stiffness, superior wear resistance, large size capability.

MECHETEC ACETAL

The docking or berthing of a ship puts an enormous pressure and friction transferred between the ship and the shore fixtures. This can lead to large scale damage and deterioration to the shore fixtures. Traditionally, docks have used rubber and timber systems to provide a barrier between the ship and the dock. However, timber quickly deteriorates in the harsh marine climate while rubber is prone to tearing and catastrophic failure in this application. POLYSLICK® PILE GUARDS have excellent impact and abrasion resistance, and a low coefficient of friction, which is proven to be an ideal material in dock applications. The material is ideally suited to harsh marine environments due to its almost zero moisture absorption and chemical resistance to saltwater. The material’s extremely high molecular weight essentially holds the material together during the extreme force transfers between the ship and dock.

POLYSLICK PILE GUARDS

MECHETEC® PSU (Polysulfone) is an amorphous high performance thermoplastic material that has proven performance at elevated temperatures. Good mechanical properties along with thermal stability allow for its use in load bearing applications over broad temperature ranges. Other notable attributes include flame retardant, excellent radiation resistance, and good chemical resistance. The ability of MECHETEC® PSU to withstand common sterilization techniques supports its use in numerous sanitary applications such as medical instruments and food processing machinery. MECHETEC® PSU stock shapes are amber in color and semi-transparent. They machine easily and are available in a full range of heavy gage rod and plate sizes. Formally known as Unifone PSU.

MECHETEC PSU

Densetec® Post Consumer is a 98% (2% color) post consumer product that can be used in a variety of applications. Densetec® Post Consumer is manufactured using a HDPE resin that has been compounded and processed from products such as detergent bottles and/or milk jugs that have been saved from our nation's land fills. Densetec® Post Consumer is Polymer Industries contribution to the “Green Movement” and can be produced for a minimum run, per color, per thickness. Densetec® Post Consumer is manufactured in sheet form or can be fabricated to customer requirements, and can be used to produce products such as Marine Board, Playground Board, Sign Board and Partition Board. Densetec® Post Consumer exhibits virtually the same properties as those of standard HDPE. It is easily fabricated, routed or engraved using current CNC technology. This material can be produced with or without a textured surface. It can be produced using any of Polymer's many stock colors and can be produced with a UV stabilizer making it the perfect choice for outdoor environments. It is an excellent replacement for wood, and because the color is embedded in the sheet, it never needs painting and is also vandal resistant. The versatile properties of Densetec® Post Consumer make it the ideal product for any application that standard HDPE can be used. Polymer Industries has committed considerable resources to the environmental reclamation of HDPE and the development of a product that does not sacrifice the integrity of the application in which it is used. DENSETEC POST CONSUMER

MECHETEC® Delrin® (polyoxy-methylene) offers design engineers a superior blend of strength, stiffness, lubricity, and dimensional stability. These properties, along with inherent machining ease, have made MECHETEC® Delrin® one of the most widely used engineering grade thermoplastics. To meet specific application configurations and to maximize production efficiencies, Polymer Industries offers a broad array of MECHETEC® Delrin® stock shapes. These materials include both homopolymer unfilled grades as well as PTFE-filled grades for enhanced wear resistance and DE-588 options for military applications. Formally known as Unital Delrin. MECHETEC DELRIN

MECHETEC® PPO (blend of polyphenylene oxide and styrene) is an amorphous thermoplastic that offers a superior blend of physical strength, flame resistance, and outstanding electrical properties. Unlike many amorphous materials that tend to steadily lose strength as temperatures increase, MECHETEC® PPO maintains its high stiffness to temperatures in excess of 200°F. In addition, it’s low moisture absorption and low coefficient of thermal expansion contribute to it being one of the most dimensionally stable materials available. MECHETEC® PPO has an excellent V-0 UL-94 flame rating at thicknesses of 0.24" and over. For applications that require improved strength and stiffness, 30% glass fiber filled is available. Formally known as Uninor PPO.

MECHETEC PPO

Ultra Non-Skid® technology initially developed for the United States Navy has been scaled down for commercial use. New to the Ultra Non-Skid® family is Luns permanent non-skid sheet. These non-skid technologies are a direct replacement for non-skid tapes and paints for industrial applications. The product has a wear and impact resistant baseplate of ultra high molecular polyethylene (UHMW-PE). The surface of the sheet is covered with anti-skid material comprised of slag.
