Applications & Uses
- Applications
- Compatible Substrates & Surfaces
- Uses
- PerfectPrimer® is used to prepare most regular and difficult surfaces to bond with most decorative overlay concretes, epoxies and resin coatings
- It is the perfect Stain and odor blocking primer
- It safely seals lead paints, tar and asbestos mastics
- Apply Primer directly to any cleaned, sound, surface including asbestos adhesives, black glues, metal, concrete, plywood, carpet glue, tile mastic, linoleum, painted surfaces, asphalt, and other materials
- It safely seals the surface without disturbing it, and prepares it to bond with top coatings, adhesives, cements etc. It binds the substrate and overlay together so that they move and bend as one
- It balances the substrate pH of the slab to neutral, thereby minimizing the main culprit of coatings delaminating
- Primer encapsulates lead and asbestos dust that is present in mastic, tiles, concrete or paints
- Application
PerfectPrimer can be applied directly over sealers left behind after asbestos abatement projects, as well as over concrete, wood, painted surfaces, sheetrock, epoxy, sheet vinyl, tile(including VCT tile, asbestos tile, and tile glue), asbestos or lead-painted shingles, and most other surfaces.
- How to use PerfectPrimer
- Remove any debris from the floor such as dust, rubble, and any loose or broken tiles
- Wash floor with PerfectCleaner and rinse with clean water
- Apply first coat of PerfectPrimer. Allow 12 hours to dry
- If floor requires patching, apply patching cement and/or 100% acrylic caulk as needed
- Apply second coat of PerfectPrimer. Allow 24 hours to cure
- Apply your paint, epoxy, modified cement, or adhesives
- Surface Preparation & Application Procedure
- Wash the floor with 4 oz ( half a bag) of PerfectCleaner dissolved and mixed into warm water. Apply the PerfectCleaner using a stiff broom, mop or deck brush, then rinse well. You may also use TSP or a TSP substitute.
- To repair damaged areas and low Spots Prep: Spot prime substrate in areas to be patched. Once primer is cured, fill low spots with your choice of polymer modified cement patching materials. Small cracks or holes can be filled with acrylic caulk.
- Once all prep has been completed, use a brush or 3/8” nap roller to apply first coat . After 12 hours, apply your second coat. Allow 12 hours to cure before foot traffic.
- Apply primer evenly. by rolling it on as thickly as you can, and then back-rolling so it does not puddle. If you are spraying a large area, use piston powered paint sprayer with a .27-.32 tip.
- Allow for 24 hour cure before applying concrete and 48 hours before applying epoxy coatings.
- When applying PerfectPrimer over existing epoxy, acrylic sealers or other resinous floors: Remove loose and poorly adhered material. Lightly surface using a #100 Grit screen. Vacuum or sweep off grinding dust. Wipe down surface with acetone, or denatured alcohol, and then apply two coats of PerfectPrimer.
NOTE: Wear socks or booties to avoid tracking dirt onto the painted surface. Dirt and dust are bond-breakers
