Tallicin® 4200

1 of 54 products in this brand
Tallicin® 4200 decreases the porosity of unsaturated polyesters and provides a smooth, level finish to the surface. It also eliminates the effects of craters and "orange peel." Tallicin® 4200 is also useful in overcoming bubbles in other types of high solids formulations and acts to improve flow and leveling in these systems.

Recommended Applications

Tallicin® 4200 reduces the surface tension of high-solids systems and provides effective flow, leveling, and bubble release. In unsaturated polyesters, Tallicin® 4200 decreases the porosity and helps to provide a smooth, even surface to the cured resin system, minimizing craters and orange peel. Tallicin® 4200 also helps to prevent pinholes, fish eyes, flooding and floating in solvent-based formulations.

Recommended Use Levels

The use level of Tallicin® 4200 for a particular system should be determined experimentally. Generally, Tallicin® 4200 is used in the range of 0.2% to 0.7% based on total weight of paint. For use as a bubble release agent, incorporate 0.2% to 0.5% of Tallicin® 4200 by weight to the let down portion and mix thoroughly. In unsaturated polyesters, use Tallicin® 4200 prior to the addition of catalyst.

To control flooding and floating, Tallicin® 4200 should be added to the grind portion of the formulation. Tallicin® 4200 can be used to correct flooding and floating problems by addition to the let-down portion with mixing.
