Features & Benefits

Product Highlights
  • Promotes acceptance of high oil-absorbing pigments into water-based systems.
  • Acts as an emulsifier for linseed oil.

Applications & Uses

Recommended Use Levels

The quantity of Tallicin® KO necessary to prepare a stable, pourable paste depends on the nature of the material to be dispersed. A starting point of 2% by weight of pigment is generally recommended. To emulsify linseed oil in water, use a combination of 1% with 40% linseed oil and add this combination slowly to 59% water with good agitation to achieve a homogeneous emulsion.

Compatibility

Tallicin® KO is designed to disperse hydrophobic pigments into a low-viscosity paste for incorporation into either oil or water-based systems. KO is compatible with a wide variety of pigments and solvent-based vehicles. When used in a water-based system in conjunction with relatively hydrophilic surfactants, Tallicin® KO imparts good color acceptance and development with high oil- absorbing pigments.
