Recommended Applications

Teraflow® 5370 is a modified hydroxy functional polydimethylsiloxane silicone surfactant that provides excellent mar and slip resistance in coatings systems that react with hydroxyl groups. When properly formulated with Teraflow® 5370, these coatings systems allow removal of non-penetrating graffiti. Since many types of graffiti materials are used, the graffiti wash must be formulated for each specific graffiti. Teraflow® 5370 provides slip and mar resistance to the film, weatherability and solvent resistance. It also imparts high thermal stability, improves gloss and aids in wetting the coating substrate.

Recommended Use Levels

Teraflow® 5370 is used in high gloss systems at a level of 0.1% to 3.0% based on total formulation weight and in flat or semi-gloss systems at a level of 1.0% to 5.0% of total weight. Additions are made to the finished paint before let-down.

Technical Details & Test Data

Compatibility

Teraflow® 5370 is used to prepare coatings that allow commonly used graffiti to be removed by solvent wash. Having reactive hydroxyl groups, Teraflow® 5370 reacts with coatings systems such as 2-component urethanes, epoxy resins, self-crosslinking acrylics, alkydmelamine, polyester-melamine and acrylic-melamine. The formulator should determine the effect of Teraflow® 5370 on intercoat adhesion and recoatability of the film. Coatings formulated with Teraflow® 5370 require complete sanding before re-coating
