NOVIS P-492 is a high flow maleic anhydride grafted Polypropylene material. Presence of maleic anhydride moieties on PP chains make NOVIS P-492 significantly polar versus plain PP. This makes it useful as adhesion promotor when added to a polyolefin based hot melt composition. Being a low molecular weight polymer, it blends well with other ingredients in the composition. NOVIS P-492 is a polymer with narrow molecular weight distribution, which can impart higher mechanical strength compared with that provided by conventional waxes.

Functions: Adhesion Promoter, Coupling Agent

Compatible Polymers & Resins: Polyolefins, Polypropylenes (PP)

Storage & Handling

Storage and Handling Procedures
  • NOVIS P-492 is mildly hygroscopic and should be stored in a dry and cool area.
  • It is recommended that prior to processing, the requisite quantity of material to be used should be dried in a hopper dryer or oven at 80-95°C for about 2 hours for obtaining best results.
  • Loss of anhydride functionality may occur due to conversion to acid groups by reaction with atmospheric moisture.
