Carnauba wax is often used in conjunction with beeswax or candelilla in food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic products. Aloe Vera Oil is produced by macerating aloe vera leaves in non-GMO soybean oil. It is clear to pale yellow in hue and has a very mild, characteristic aroma. Jojoba is a shrub native to Mexico and regions of the U.S. including California and Arizona. It is a perennial evergreen with a life span of up to 200 years and grows 1-5 meters in height. Jojoba has broad, thick waxy glaucous gray leaves and yellow-green flowers. The hard seed consists of 45-55% liquid wax. This natural, golden wax is very similar in properties to sebum and spermaceti oil. It was originally extracted by Native Americans, but actual cultivation of Jojoba for the wax began after the ban of sperm whale oil imports in 1971. Jojoba is highly prized in the cosmetic industry for being similar to sebum in composition and for its extremely stable life. Praan Naturals Emulsifying Wax is used to prevent oil and water from separating in creams and lotions. Emulsifying Wax is supplied in white waxy pellets or flakes, and it has low odor. It is made from vegetable source fatty alcohols. However, it is not considered "all natural." It combines the emollient, emulsifying, thickening properties of cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol. Emulsifying Wax can form extremely stable w/o or o/w emulsions.

Honey powder is natural honey that has been spray dried into a fine, light tan powder. It is then blended with fructose and maltodextrin to keep it free flowing. Honey powder is similar in texture to corn flour. Honey is said to be a natural antiseptic due to its tendency to absorb the life-sustaining moisture out of bacterial cell walls. As such, it is useful to include in healing salves and to use as a natural wound cover. Honey attracts the dirt from skin pores and dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. It, therefore, is said to be a natural skin cleanser and softener. Use honey powder in your creams, lotions, soaps, scrubs, facials, masks, body wraps, bath teas, milk baths, bath salts and bath bombs. PLEASE NOTE: Honey powder can absorb moisture during transit under certain weather conditions. We cannot guarantee that it will remain powdered. If it hardens, it can be powdered again in a food processor.

Aloe Vera Butter is an extraction of pure Aloe Vera using a fatty coconut fraction to produce a soft-solid butter that melts upon contact with the skin. It aids in the rapid hydration of dry skin. Aloe Vera Butter is quite versatile and is suitable for a wide variety of skin care applications including use in lotions, soaps, skin creams and lip balms. Bayberry Wax, sometimes known as Myrtle Wax, is a vegetable wax derived from the bayberry fruit. It is among the most hard to find of vegetable waxes, but has a long history in the use of making natural tapered candles. Cosmetic formulators and personal care artisans however, are discovering its use as a vegan substitute for Beeswax (Beeswax cannot be used by those who are vegan). We recommend that you test your formulations as you may need more or less Bayberry Wax to achieve the same texture as when using beeswax. Praan Naturals Bayberry Wax is sold in convenient pellets. Pellets allow for easy measuring and consistent melting. The color of Babyberry Wax can vary from lot to lot, but it is typically sage to olive green in color. The wax possesses a sweet, rich and distinctive aroma.

Praan Naturals Coffee Bean Butter is produced by blending cold pressed Coffee Seed Oil and Sweet Almond Oil with hydrogenated vegetable oil. This process creates a butter with good oxidative stability, a delicious coffee aroma and a smooth, silky feel. Coffee Butter is a semi-soft, light brown colored butter with a strong, delicious aroma of coffee. It is similar in properties to coffee oil. It does not have caffeine in it as caffeine is a water soluble component of the bean, but the aroma is of pure coffee. Coffee Bean Butter can be used in a wide array of formulations including soaps, lotions, creams and lip balms. The recommended usage rate is 3-10%. However, its texture allows it to be easily used at up to 100%. Coffee Oil is rich in phytosterols which promote excellent moisture retention, quick penetration and good adherence in cosmetics.

Praan Naturals Candelilla Wax is a hard, brittle, vegetable wax supplied in pellet form. Candelilla wax is the exudate found on the leaves of a small shrub native to Mexico and the southwest. It can be used as a substitute for beeswax or carnauba wax. It is softer than carnauba wax and is often used to make candles. Candelilla wax in commonly used in lip products, stick formulations, body butters, creams, lotions, hair pomades and other products requiring stiffness. Candelilla Wax ranges in color from light yellow to light brown. Our current lot of Candelilla Wax Pellets is light brown and is darker than our previous lot. Pellet size ranges between approximately 1/8 Inch to 1/4 Inch in Diameter.
