"Rodenburg’s activities started in 1945, shortly after the war. Arie Rodenburg started with trading of plant derived products. First to private individuals, but once the market began to grow, business to industries expanded.

Already from the beginning, we converted by-products and waste streams from the potato processing industry. The products went into cattle feed and soon we were one of the leading forage businesses in The Netherlands and Benelux. The market grew and the second generation took over.

In 1996 we saw a decline in the agricultural sector as well as the cattle feed industry. That was the moment Rodenburg started to look for alternative, innovative markets for the by-products."

The main standard portfolio of the Optinyl® grades contains masterbatches with properties like traditional masterbatches but dedicated for the compounders plastic market. Various Optinyl® products are available to be able for compounders to anticipate on various themes. Dedicated types or specialty grades can be made available as well. New grades our continuously developed, such as grades with higher flexibility, higher biobased content, different base polymers as well as lower costs varieties.

Optinyl

The name Solanyl is derived from the Latin words Solanum Tuberosum, which means potato. Solanyl® is based on reclaimed side stream starch from the potato processing industry and/or grain, root or seed flour based resources. The Solanyl® portfolio is special tailored for various converting methods and is a renewable alternative for various petroleum-based plastic applications, e.g. PS, PP, PE and PVC. The compounds can be used directly for the production of bioplastic products with most common converting methods with respect to injection molding, sheet and profile extrusion, thermoforming and extrusion film casting or blowing products and processes.
