A versatile monomer to provide performance characteristics to polymer formulations for latex and solution copolymers, copolymer plastics and crosslinkable polymer systems. Major markets include surface coatings, textiles, adhesives and plastics.

Use as a chemical intermediate. It is converted into a multitude of other chemicals, such as Dimethylaminoethyl acrylate (DMAEA). These chemicals are then used as:

  • chemical and pharmaceutical intermediates
  • waste water treatment chemicals

Ethyl acrylate is a common monomer used for polymerisation. Many co-polymers and polymers derived from EA are used in applications like:

  • water-based paints and coatings
  • manufacture of thickeners for industries
  • leather finishing, particularly for nubuck and suede
  • coatings for textiles, wood and paper
  • manufacture of various plastics
  • construction adhesives and pressure-sensitive adhesives
