Vegetamide™ 18MEA-R

1 of 4 products in this brand
Vegetamide™ 18MEA-R, "Plant-derived Liquid Cuticle" has aliphatic cationic compounds of rice peptides with hair conditioning efficacy. The F-Layer, which main component is called 18-MEA, is the barrier structure of hair cuticles, but it can be stripped off due to hair damage. Because Vegetamide™'s structure mimics the structure of the F-Layer, it can repair and restore the hair cuticles to a healthy state and improve its texture. This product is preservative free. It is developed and manufactured in Japan by SEIWA KASEI.

Technical Details & Test Data

Mechanism of Action
  • There are "Barrier structures" that protect healthy hair surface from some damages.
  • These are named scholarly "18-MEA" or "F-Layer"
  • Chemical damages caused by perm or hair-coloring break these barrier structures.
  • In result, the damaged hair becomes easy to suffer external stresses.

Vegetamide™ 18MEA-R - Mechanism of Action

Materials to "Barrier structures" of healthy hair

  • Vegetamide is a specialized repair agent
  • 18-MEA and protein in hair are recreated as pseudo 18-MEA and plant protein in vegetamide for each

Vegetamide™ 18MEA-R - Mechanism of Action - 1

Healthy hair repels water

There are Barrier structures named 18-MEA or f-Layer on healthy hair surface. This makes hair surface hydrophobicity and protects the hair from external stress

Damaged hair has affinity for water

Barrier structures on hair surface are broken under damage, and the hair becomes hydrophilicity. As hydrophobicity barrier is broken, the hair becomes easy to suffer external stress and recieve more damage.

Vegetamide gets hydrophilicity hair back

Vegetamide adsorb onto damage parts in hair selectively and recover Barrier structures. In the results, this restores hydrophilicity hair to hydrophobicity, and the hair will be back to helthy hair.

Efficacy Tests
  • We tested hydrophobic property of Vegetamide.
  • Healthy hair, damaged hair and damaged hair treated with Vegetamide were used in the test evaluating hydrophilic/ hydrophobic property of hair surface by measuring the contact angle of water droplet on hair sample.

Vegetamide™ 18MEA-R - Efficacy Tests

  • We tested how to adsorb to the hair surface.
  • Healthy hair, middle-damaged hair and high-damaged hair treated with fluorescence labeled-Vegetamide were observed by fluorescence microscope and confirmed the adsorption of Vegetamide to hair surface.
