a) Phytoestrogens
Hops may have estrogenic effects. Wang Jiangbi and others studied the effect of hops on ovariectomized obese rats. After oral administration of hops water extract, compared with ovariectomized rats, weight gain was suppressed, serum free fatty acid FFA content decreased, and total antioxidant capacity T AOC increased. The levels of malondialdehyde MDA and insulin Ins decreased. It shows that hops water extract can inhibit obesity in ovariectomized rats. This effect may be achieved by hops having estrogen-like activity by increasing insulin sensitivity and improving the body’s total antioxidant capacity.
b) Anti-oxidize effect.
Studies have shown that the scavenging rate of xanthohumol on oxygen free radicals in the body is several times higher than that of other antioxidants, and its antioxidant properties are stronger than vitamin E.
c) Sedation
Foreign folk use hops for hysteria, restlessness, insomnia and other diseases. Hop extracts can also play a role in small sedation, moderate hypnosis, and massive paralysis of the central nervous system.
d) Antiviral, antibacterial effect
The main components of hop extract are flavonoids and flavonoids, which have antiviral effects. Studies have shown that hop extract has inhibitory effects on a variety of bacteria, such as Bacillus anthracis, Bacillus cereus, Diphtheria, pneumococcus, and Staphylococcus aureus.
e) Antitumor
