Special Materials Company SMC Global 688T flame retardant was developed as a low viscosity alternative to SMC Global 688. Chemically equivalent to Amgard CT, SMC Global 688T is a member of our family of unique phosphorus based products designed primarily for the textile industry. This high phosphorus containing cyclic phosphonate material is particularly suited for applications in textile back coatings where the applicator cannot handle a high viscosity flame retardant. SMC Global 688T is used to assist the textile back coater in meeting NFPA 701 , MVSS-302, and other flammability standards for textile fabrics. It is most effective with acrylic-based latexes and other oxygen containing polymers. SMC Global 688T has excellent water-soluble and can be added directly to the latex without the addition of an emulsifier.
