STEPCOTE W-888 is an effective wetting agent for use in waterborne coatings. It can be incorporated during the letdown phase of production or post added to the final formulation. Typical use level, based on active content, is 2 – 6 lbs/100 gallons, however, optimal dosing should be determined by performing a ladder study. STEPCOTE W-888, although primarily a wetting agent, may positively impact the following coatings properties:

- STEPCOTE W-888 must be preserved in its original packaging, carefully closed, safe from freezing of heat and the light, in a well ventilated place with electrical installations conforming to regulations and without naked heat sources.
- Normal safety precautions (i.e., gloves and safety goggles) should be employed when handling STEPCOTE W-888. Contact with eyes, nose and contact with skin should be avoided. Wash thoroughly after handling material. Inhalation should be avoided, and aerosols, mists and fumes should be contained at source and ensure there is proper ventilation of work areas.
