Circa 1850® Outdoor Oil

1 of 49 products in this brand
Circa 1850® DEX Outdoor Oil is comprised of natural plant oils (tung oil, orange oil, pine oil) and a natural UV-absorber (rutile). Outdoor Oil penetrates deep into the wood fibers to protect and against drying and weathering. Tung oil, a natural oil extracted from the nut of an oriental tree, has been used for centuries to protect and beautify wood. Circa 1850® DEX Outdoor Oil is the ideal finish for exotic (teak, mahogany, ipe) coniferous (cedar, fir, redwood, pine) and deciduous (maple, birch) wood. It protects furniture, decks, woodwork, boats and raised garden beds.

    Directions

Surface Preparation Circa 1850 DEX Outdoor Oil is only to be applied onto bare, stained, or previously oiled wood surfaces - never over any other type of finish. Use DEX Cleaner & Brightener or Circa 1850 Turpentine to remove dirt.

Application Stir contents thoroughly prior to and during application. Apply without dilution. Wipe or brush on a thin coat of Outdoor Oil. Let the oil penetrate for about 10 minutes, then wipe off any excess oil with a clean cloth so that a thin coat remains on the surface. If little puddles form soon after you have removed the excess finish, continue wiping every 10 minutes until no new puddles form. Let dry for 24 hours. to smooth out the surface between coats, buff lightly with Circa 1850 Finishing Pads or steel wool (0000). Apply a thin second coat in the same manner as the first. to obtain a finish that is a bit shinier, a thin third and fourth coat may be applied, always waiting 24 hours between coats. Exterior wood should be recoated at least once a year.

Dry Time Allow 24 hours prior to normal use. Avoid heavy traffic for at least 72 hours. Dry time may be affected by high humidity, temperatures below 20C (68F), or application of thick coats.

Coverage Up to 20 sq m (200 sq ft) per 946mL.

Clean Up Clean up using Circa 1850 Pure Turpentine 6mL.
