    Recommended Processing Conditions
    • Machine
      • It is recommended that an in-line reciprocating screw machine be used to injection mold ECP 280, but it is possible to process this material on lunger injection molding machines.
      • Processing conditions are naturally dependant on the equipment used, however, general experience has shown that the ECP 280 is not as dependent on temperature as on shear hence any shearing stress can result in variation of the material viscosity, such that generally the higher the shearing stress the lower the viscosity.
      • For injection molding barrel temperatures between 150-185°C have proved satisfactory.  High injection speed and high screw revolutions are recommended.
      • During profile extrusion it has been found suitable to have the barrel temperature at 170-200°C at the feed zone and up to 195-215°C at the extrusion head and die.  Machines with length to diameter ratio 20/1 to 28/1 and compression ratios from 2 to 3.5 are suggested.
    • Use of Regrind - Runners, sprues and scrap moldings can be reground and blended with virgin material.  Regrind additions should not exceed 10% by weight of the virgin materail otherwise some reduction in properties may be experienced.
