Carrera LTC™ is a clear ceramic coating capable of providing extremely high levels of chemical, corrosion and thermal protection in very thin films. When properly applied Carrera LTC will withstand substrate temperatures over 500°F. Carrera LTC will air cure over a period of 24 hours, though it will be dry to the touch and accept reasonable handling in less than 1 hour and may be placed in service after 8 to 10 hours. Maximum hardness is achieved after 7 days. Carrera LTC requires no surface etch and will bond to extremely smooth surfaces. Simply degrease and apply. The coating cures to a very hard, smooth surface with excellent adhesion. Carrera LTC has excellent resistance to UV. Carrera LTCis solvent based with very low to no V.O.C. depending on formulation.

Applications & Uses

Application Method
Recommended Uses

Carrera LTC is primarily designed as a clear protective coating with excellent chemical and corrosion resistance. Apply to any polished metal such as; aluminum, brass, bronze, steel, Stainless Steel, Titanium, Magnesium, Chrome plating or to glass, ceramics, plastics, including flashed chrome plastic, and paint and other polymers. The final film thickness is less than .001”.

Not Recommended For: Highly porous surfaces.

Application Instructions

These instructions are not intended to show product recommendations for specific service. They are issued as an aid in determining correct surface preparation, mixing instructions and application procedure. It is assumed that the proper product recommendations have been made. Those instructions should be followed closely to obtain the maximum service from the materials.

Application

Surface Preparation: All parts must be absolutely free of all oils, grease, moisture, dust, scale or corrosion.

Final Clean: Degrease using Acetone or similar solvent that leaves no residue.Do not use petroleum based solvents.

Mixing: Stir well.

Application Temperatures:

  Material Surfaces Amblent Humidity
Normal 18-30ºC 18-30ºC 16-32ºC 65-85%
Minimum 13ºC 13ºC 10ºC 50%
Maximum 35ºC 38ºC 38ºC 95%

Spray: Apply coating in light fog passes (approximately 20% overlap) to achieve a thickness of .0003” to .001”. Use sufficient air volume for correct operation of equipment. (Minimum 30 PSI) Minimum air, coating and part temperature should be 65f, if below warm up part and coating. Spray at a right angle to part with a 1mm or smaller nozzle size. Wait approximately 10 minutes between coats if more than one coat is desired. Do not wait more than 20 minutes before applying a second or any subsequent coats.

Spray Gun & Mfr.: Any conventional unit. Recommended gravity feed type touch-up gun. (Important that nozzle size be 1mm or less) Clean immediately after use, with Acetone.

Drying Time: at 60 minutes.

Final Cure: Air curing. Cure requires 24 hours minimum at temperatures above 18C / 65F. Chemical resistance is in 24 hours maximum hardness takes 7 days.

Clean Up: Acetone or similar solvents, immediately.

Acceptable Substrates for Application

May be applied to both ferrous and non-ferrous metals, glass, ceramics, and plastics as well as over other paints and coatings.

Safety & Health

Ventilation and Safety

When used in enclosed areas, thorough air circulation must be provided during and after application until the coating is cured. The ventilating system should be capable of preventing fine particulate matter from exceeding TLV limits. In addition to proper ventilation, fresh air respirators or fresh air hoods must be used by all application personnel. Where flammable solvents exist, explosion proof lighting equipment must be used. Hypersensitive persons should wear protective clothing, gloves and/or protective cream on face, hands and all exposed areas.
