1 of 6 products in this brand
Armor Plate 901 Concrete Bonding Agent General Epoxy Adhesive is an epoxy resin system specifically designed to bond freshly mixed concrete to an existing concrete layer. AP 901 is also excellent for bonding steel, non-skidding steel decking, wood, brick, aluminum, stone, and various other materials. As a general purpose epoxy resin, AP 901:; provides a moisture and chemical barrier for concrete structures. repairs spalled areas on concrete. secures anchor bolts and equipment bases. when mixed with suitable aggregate, provides a non-skid, chemical resistant floor coating for stairways, walkways, bridges and loading docks.

    Surface Preparation

    For Concrete:

    • Remove all foreign matter, old coatings, patchwork or surface contamination. This includes dirt, grease, salts or form oil.
    • Remove all sand, dust, standing water and debris.

    For non-skidding steel decking:

    • Remove old coatings and surface contamination such as oil or grease, using detergents, or solvents.
    • Remove any rust or oxidation. Sandblast the surface to a near white metal.
    • Remove any sharp edges or protrusions by grinding, chipping, or other methods.
    • Remove all sand, dust, standing water and debris.
    Mixing

The Armor Plate 901 mixing ratio, by volume, is 1 part Resin (part A) to 1 part Cure (part B). Pour the two components into a clean container and stir until a homogenous mixture is obtained. Proper mixture is obtained after approximately 2 minutes stirring with a low speed power mixer, or 3-5 minutes with a hand-stirred wooden paddle. If the AP 901 is to be applied as a spray, thin the mixture with a 50/50 mixture of methyl ethyl ketone and xylene. The maximum amount of thinner that can be used is 10% of the total weight of the AP 901 mixture. Allow 2-4 hours for the solvents to evaporate before pouring concrete. When bonding new concrete to old concrete, apply Armor Plate 901 to the old concrete surface just prior to pouring the new concrete. DO NOT allow AP 901 to cure before pouring new concrete.

    Application

Armor Plate 901 may be applied with a brush, roller, or spray equipment. If spray equipment is used, allow 2-4 hours for the thinner solvents to evaporate before pouring concrete. When bonding new concrete to old concrete, apply Armor Plate 901 to the old concrete surface just prior to pouring the new concrete. DO NOT allow AP 901 to cure before pouring new concrete. As long as AP 901 is tacky to the touch, good adhesion will be attained. If AP 901 cures prior to pouring the new concrete, apply another coat of Armor Plate 901 onto the cured coating. When using AP 901 bonding agent, new concrete may be poured in thin layers (1/4″ to 1/2″) to create a “feathered edge”. Cure time will vary with the temperature, humidity and service conditions. The chart below indicates a typical cure cycle for AP 901.

    Coverage and Estimating

The estimated coverage of AP 901 is 125 sq. ft./gal. at a 10 mil thickness. Material losses during mixing and application must be considered when estimating.
