Hunter Chemical produces, processes and distributes Nickel, Cobalt and Chrome-based chemicals and raw materials. These products are used in metal finishing, thermal spray and other applications. For raw materials, Hunter Chemical maintains direct relationships with the world’s top sources of Nickel, Cobalt and Chrome-based salts, solutions, oxides and powders to allow for competitive prices of high-purity material. Hunter Chemical produces Chrome Catalysts and Fume Suppressants for hard chrome plating, decorative chrome plating and anodizing. Hunter Chemical also produces Chrome Oxide and Alumina Titania for thermal spray. Many types of Nickel Powder / Nickel Flake are processed by Hunter Chemical, including conductive nickel powder, with various properties used in many different applications. In 1990, our founder, Dr. Bernard Gordon III, PhD, was working as a professor of polymer science at Penn State University. He saw an opportunity to capitalize on a niche market by developing a novel process of producing poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline), later trade named Aquazol®, while remaining cost effective for customers. This entrepreneurial ambition paved the way for the company we are today. 30 years later, PCI is still the only commercial manufacturer of Aquazol® (PEtOx) and has expanded into other specialty materials – each synthesized through innovative processes known and developed exclusively by PCI’s chemists.

Carroll Crosley founded Gateway Food Products Company in 1961, opening our first facility in downtown St. Louis. Carroll focused on manufacturing high quality products backed by friendly and reliable customer service. Carroll’s commitment provided the ground work for rapid growth. By 1978, Gateway Food Products had outgrown our facility and moved our operations to our current 25,000 square foot facility in Dupo, Illinois. In 1988, Carroll Crosley retired and handed over the leadership to his son, John Crosley. John has continued the traditions established by his father, spearheading our expansion and growth into new product lines.
