It is a broad spectrum antimicrobial used to prevent fungal, bacterial, and algal spoilage of polymers such as PVC, polyurethane, silicone, polyolefin, polyester, and acrylic articles such as shower curtains, coated fabric, vinyl wall coverings, floor coverings, appliance gaskets, wall and floor coatings, and swimming pool, pond, and ditch liners.

In independent testing, Gaia® Antimicrobial AB 505 has been shown to inhibit ecoli and staphylococcus. A loading of 1.5% - 3% will protect plastic articles for an estimated 1 – 2 years. Recommended temperature range should not reach above 428°F.
