Applications
- Mixing: Stir thoroughly, making sure no pigment remains on the bottom of the can.
- Thinning: If permitted by federal, state, and local regulations, thin only if necessary with Anchor #J1131 forspray applications or #J1112 for brush or roller.
- Surface Temperature: Minimum 40°F, Maximum 110°F - The surface should be dry and the relative humidity should be no greater than 85%.
- Recommended Thickness: 1.6-2.0 mils dry
- Theoretical Coverage: 797 figal at 1 mil dry, assuming no application losses. Coverage will vary depending on the color, application technique, porosity and design of the substrate
Airless Spray (Pressure) 1200-2200 psi Conventional Spray (Air Pressure) 40-70 psi psi Conventional Spray ( Fluid Pressure) 10-20 psi psi Application Considerations: The recommended method of application is by airless spray. However, brush, roller or conventional spray may also be used. To avoid dusting, apply in wet coats. On a derusted surface, the application of a dry film thickness of at least 2 mils is recommended. With any oxidative coating, faster dry time may be obtained with increased air movement and/or higher substrate or material temperature.
Cleanup: Use Anchor #J1131 synthetic thinner
Where To Use
Typical substrates include structural steel, storage tanks, steel fences, machinery and equipment.
Preparation & Priming
- Surface Preparation: For maximum performance, the recommended substrate should be blasted in accordance with SSPC-SP7. If blast cleaning is not feasible, the substrate should be degreased in accordance with SSPC-SP1. All burrs should be removed and sharp edges or rough weld seams should be ground down. Full use should then be made of mechanical power tools, in conjunction with wire brushing and chipping to remove all loose rust and mill scale to a standard of cleanliness conforming to SP-2 or SP-3.
- Finish Coats: Suitable topcoats include alkyds, modified alkyds, and water-borne coatings. Do not apply epoxies, vinyls, or other coatings containing strong solvents such as aromatics or ketones.

Safety & Health
- Safety Information
- Combustible liquid and vapor. Contains: mineral spirits. Vapor harmful. May affect the brain or nervous system causing dizziness, headache or nausea. Causes nose, eye, skin and throat irritation. Notice: reports have associated repeated and prolonged occupational overexposure to solvents with permanent brain and nervous system damage. Intentional misuse by deliberately concentrating and inhaling the contents may be harmful or fatal.
- Keep away from heat and flame. Prevent build-up of vapors by opening all windows and doors to achieve cross-ventilation. Use only with adequate ventilation. Do not breathe vapors or spray mist. Ensure fresh air entry during application and drying. If you experience eye watering, headache or dizziness or if air monitoring demonstrates vapor/mist levels are above applicable limits, wear an appropriate, properly fitted respirator (niosh approved) during and after application. Follow respirator manufacturer’s directions for respirator use. Avoid contact with eyes, skin or clothing. Wash thoroughly after handling. Keep out of reach of children.
- If you scrape, sand or remove old paint, you may release lead dust. Lead is toxic. Exposure to lead dust can cause serious illness, such as brain damage, especially in children. Pregnant women should also avoid exposure. Wear a niosh-approved respirator to control lead exposure. Clean up carefully with a hepa vacuum and a wet mop
