Coconut Oil is a versatile oil which can be used as a skin moisturizer, suntan oil, or hair conditioner. May be used in cooking and food recipes. This thick creamy oil may be easily warmed to produce a thinner consistency if desired. Coconut Oil is a natural emollient oil for skin and hair care products. It has a light non-greasy feel and leaves skin and hair soft and supple. Coconut oil was found to reduce the protein loss remarkably for both undamaged and damaged hair when used as a pre-wash and postwash grooming product. Coconut oil has a low molecular weight and straight linear chain, making it able to penetrate inside the hair shaft.

Natural Status
- This product is the 100% natural oil extracted from the flesh of the coconut via hexane and physical means. It does not contain any additives or hazardous substances and it is unadulterated with any other oil or foreign matter.
- In addition, this product is 100% Natural per ISO 16128. It has a Natural Index and Natural Origin Index of 1. Conventional versions of this product have an Organic Index and Organic Origin Index of 0, whereas Organic versions of this product have these indices at a value of 1.

1. The following Allergens are not present in this product:

2. Allergen information of note for this product:
- Tree Nuts: Nuts are not in the product, however Almond Oil is derived from Almond nuts (from the almond tree Prunus Amygdalus or Communis)
- The oil meets the FDA’s criteria as a highly refined oil and is exempt as a major food allergen.
3. EU Fragrance Allergens:
This product does not contain any of the 26 substances listed in Annex III of the EU Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009.
Genetically Modified Organisms
This product does not contain Genetically Modified Organisms and it is not derived from biotechnology. Therefore, it is GMO Free and Non-GMO.
Bioengineered Status
This product does not contain and is not derived from any crops on the List of Bioengineered Foods identified by Agricultural Marketing Services (AMS). Therefore, this product is Non-BE and does not require a BE disclosure.
Food Grade
This product is food grade and fit for human consumption. This product meets all the legally required health, sanitary standards, and controls of the U.S. Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act per 21 CFR 184-1400.
California Proposition 65 & California Safe Cosmetics Act
This material may contain the following impurities, which are listed on the California Proposition 65 list and/or other authoritative bodies which are enforceable under the California Safe Cosmetics Act of 2005:
- We guarantee that this material will not contain these impurities above the specified detection limits. However, trace amounts may be present at lower detection levels.
- We guarantee that this material does not contain actionable levels of any other impurities on these lists.
- The limits set by these lists are based on daily intake; therefore it is the responsibility of the finished goods manufacturer to comply with these limits when advising dosage levels, as we offer our oils as raw materials, not finished goods.
GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe)
- This product is a 100% vegetable oil and therefore, to the best of our knowledge would not be subject to pre-market approval by the FDA because the use of this product is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by qualified experts. Therefore, if it is not listed in the FDA’s regulations, we believe that it would fall under the following description:
- According to the FDA Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition Office of Food Additive Safety, “If the use of a substance is GRAS, it is not subject to review and approval by FDA and need not be listed in FDA’s regulations in order to be lawfully marketed. 182.1: It is impracticable to list all substances that are GRAS for their intended use”.
REACH Status
- This product is currently exempt from registration under REACH’s Annex V, Entry 9.
- Article 2(7)(b) of the Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH) and its amendment by Regulation (EC) No 987/2008 of October 8th, 2008, sets out criteria for exempting substances covered by Annex V from the registration, downstream user, and evaluation requirements, as sufficient information is known about these substances that they are considered to cause minimum risk because of their intrinsic properties.
- Entry 9 of Annex V lists substances that are obtained from natural sources and are not chemically modified. In particular: Vegetable fats, vegetable oils, vegetable waxes; animal fats, animal oils, animal waxes; fatty acids from C6 to C24 and their potassium, sodium, calcium and magnesium salts; and glycerol.
Halal Status
This product is not Halal certified. However, the following is true for this product:
- The following are NOT used as a raw material and/or processing aid in the manufacturing of this product: Animal products or by-products, Enzymes, Ethyl alcohol
- The equipment used to produce this product has NOT been used to produce other products that contain animal materials.
- The product does NOT contain more than one ingredient
Foreign Material Contamination
Pesticide & Herbicide Residues:
When previously tested, no reportable levels of pesticide or herbicide residues have been found in this product. We can guarantee the following limits based on reduced testing: Pesticides <2ppm, Herbicides <2ppm
Other Contaminants:
There is no known content of contamination of potentially hazardous components in this product. These components include but are not limited to PAH, Melamine, Petrochemicals, Paraffins, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s), ethylene oxide (ETO), Propylene oxide, propylene glycol, ethylene glycol, glycol ethers, zearalenone, triclosan, benzene, Partially Hydrogenated Oils (PHO’s), Ethanolamines (such as MEA, DEA, or TEA), EDTA, Safrole, Estragole, Silicone, plastic microbeads, and Xenoestrogens (such as Atrazine, BPA, Dioxins, Endosulfan, DDT, PBBs, PCBs, Phthalates, Zeranol, BHA, Propyl Gallate, and Parabens).
BSE/TSE (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy / Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathy)
This product is of plant origin and is not derived from and does not contain any products of animal origin. In addition, there is no potential for contamination by animal products during standard processing and handling of this product.
Animal Testing
To the best of our knowledge, no animal testing has been performed, by us or on our behalf, in the development, efficacy testing, safety testing, toxicology testing, or any other testing regarding this product since December 31st, 1990
Elemental Impurities
When previously tested, no reportable levels of elemental impurities have been found in this product. Based on reduce testing, we can guarantee results will not exceed the following detection limits when tested via ICP-MS: Mercury <0.1ppm, Cadmium <0.1ppm, Lead <0.1ppm, Inorganic Arsenic <0.1ppm, Cobalt <0.1ppm, Vanadium <0.1ppm, Nickel <0.1ppm
Further, we can confirm the following;
- During current processing, the Elemental Impurities (Cd, Pb, As, Hg, Co, V, Ni) do not occur and leach into the product.
- Residual impurities resulting from elements added (catalyst or solvents) are not a source of Elemental Impurity (Cd, Pb, As, Hg, Co, V, Ni).
- Equipment used does not contribute to leaching of Elemental Impurities (Cd, Pb, As, Hg, Co, V, Ni) into final product.
- Raw materials/Excipients used/ procured do not contribute to the overall Elemental Impurities (Cd, Pb, As, Hg, Co, V, Ni) in the finished product.
Pyrrolizidine Alkaloid
This product is not considered a risk for Pyrrolizidine Alkaloid. In the unlikely event there was a presence of Pyrrolizidine Alkaloid in the raw material, the refining process would eliminate any toxic levels. This product can be guaranteed to contain less than 4ppb. At this level, according to the FDA, no toxicity is expected.
Microbial Growth
- We do not perform microbial testing on all batches of oils. The moisture content found in these oils is so low; it does not promote bacterial or microbial growth. If bacteria were present in the starting raw material, it would be removed during the refining and deodorization of the oil.
- We do perform periodic microbial testing as part of our HACCP SOP. We can guarantee the microbial limits in an unopened drum of our oil to be:
- Total Plate Count < 1,000cfu/g
- Mold and Yeast < 100cfu/g
- Coliforms: Negative/25g
- Salmonella: Negative/25g
- E.Coli: Negative/25g
- Staphylococcus: Negative/25g
Other Regulatory Information
1. CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora):
This product is not Included on the CITES Appendix.
2. Conflict Minerals:
This product does not contain any conflict minerals (Tin, Tungsten, Tantalum, Gold).
3. WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) Prohibited List:
This product does not contain any substances listed on the prohibited list maintained by WADA.
4. DSHEA (Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act):
This product was marketed in the United States before October 15, 1994, therefore it is grandfathered under DSHEA.
5. Nanomaterials:
We do not use any nanomaterials as ingredients/raw materials in this product.
6. Irradiation:
This product has not been treated with or exposed to radiation and therefore is non-irradiated.
7. Sewer Sludge:
This product has not been processed, treated, or exposed to Sewage sludge.
8. Aflatoxins:
Aflatoxin represent a group of mycotoxins produced from the micro fungi Aspergilluis flavus and A. parasiticus, which grow on grains, nuts, and other crops. Most oils have little or no risk of Aflatoxin due to the destruction/removal of the Aflatoxin during the oil’s refining process. The FDA allows a maximum of 20 ppb Aflatoxin in foods. We guarantee that this product is compliant with this limit.
9. CMR 1,2,3:
This product does not contain any carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic substance classified as CMR Category 1A, 1B, or 2 by the EU, or substances classified as CMR Category 1, 2A, or 2B by the IARC.
Packaging & Availability
- Lot Numbering System
- Arista Industries bases their lot numbering on work orders to each individual plant. A lot is generated when Arista orders a packing of material to be performed and brought into a warehouse for stock. A lot may consist of any amount of drums, pails, totes or bulk material provided it is from the same batch of raw material from one consistent drumming.
- Arista uses a unique ascending, non-repeating numbering system. This system is fully traceable. By pulling up any one of these lot numbers in our system we can tell when each lot was manufactured, what batch it came from, what customers received it, when they received it and how much they received. Arista’s current system provides complete traceability right back to the raw material the finished oil was derived from.
Storage & Handling
- Shelf Life & Storage Conditions
- This product has an expiration date of 2 (+) years based on storage in sealed unopened drums at room temperature (approx. 68º F) under a nitrogen blanket. Avoid exposure to air, light and heat. If this product is packaged in pails, it has a 1 year (+) shelf life under the same conditions, as pails are not nitrogen blanketed.
- Once the drums or pails have been opened, the shelf life will depend on how you handle the material. For instance, if you re-blanket or add nitrogen each time the oil is used, you will be able to keep it for the full shelf life. If the oil is not blanketed with nitrogen after opening, you should use the oil within 3 months. It is important to keep air away at all times to maintain stability.
