The SR formula actually makes AHCC more effective. Most of the oral AHCC acts within the intestines on groups of cells called Peyer’s Patches. These are lymph nodes dispersed all through the intestinal walls. On exposure to AHCC, these cells are responsible for inducing systemic immunomodulation.
AHCC is water-soluble and can pass through the GI tract quickly. It is also subjected to enzymatic degradation in the intestines.
The SR formula contains mucoadhesive polymers which attach themselves along with the entrapped active molecule to the mucus surface of the intestinal cells. They are known to increase the duration of attachment of the actives to the intestinal mucus surface and increase the efficacy of the actives such as antibiotics.More importantly, these polymers adhere specifically to the Peyer’s patches where AHCC can be released in a very site-specific manner. There are quite a few articles on the delivery of oral vaccines that validate the efficacy of the polymers which also protect the entrapped AHCC from undergoing enzymatic degradation, as they are resistant to enzyme activity.
