MicroActive® L-Citrulline is a free flowing powder comprised of 60% active ingredient. L-citrulline is an amino acid that is converted by the body to arginine. As it is better absorbed than arginine it is a more bioavailable source. L-arginine boosts nitric oxide production in the body that in turn improves blood flow as a vasodilator and induces greater flexibility in the walls of blood cells. These functions support improved physical endurance, lower blood pressure and reduced erectile dysfunction when it occurs.

MicroActive® Melatonin is a hormone secreted by the pineal gland in the brain. It helps regulate other hormones and maintains the body’s circadian rhythm or sleep cycles. The circadian rhythm is an internal 24-hour “clock” that plays a critical role in when we fall asleep and when we wake up. When it is dark, your body produces more melatonin; when it is light, the production of melatonin drops. Being exposed to bright lights in the evening or too little light during the day can disrupt the body’s normal melatonin cycles. For example, jet lag, shift work, and poor vision can disrupt melatonin cycles.

MicroActive® Astaxanthin 10% is a free flowing water dispersible paste containing 2.5% of micronized Astaxanthin, suitable for soft gel capsules. The formulation provides sustained release of the active approximately twice that of the control. Small clinical studies indicate that it is 5.8 times more bioavailable as compared to the control. Derived from algae and selected sea animals, Astaxanthin has been proven to be an extremely powerful antioxidant and free radical scavenger. Uniquely able to pass through the blood-brain barrier, Astaxanthin has been shown to support cognitive health, retard macular degeneration and act as an effective anti-inflammatory agent. As a fat-soluble compound, there are however challenges to effective absorption.

MicroActive® Curcumin SR is a water dispersible formulation containing dispersed micronized curcuminoids in a sustained-release matrix that improves the active’s absorption and residence time. Clinical studies dosing with MicroActive® Curcumin show the presence of a group of highly beneficial demethylated-curcuminoids not present when subjects took equivalent doses of regular curcumin. These individual demethylated curcuminoids demonstrate numerous biological properties such as antioxidant, anticarcinogenic, and hypocholesterolemic activities, as well as shielding progressive neuronal degeneration from increased oxidative attack. These minor curcuminoids also have a particular neuroprotective effect for Alzheimer’s patients. Accumulation of amyloid-beta (AB) is one of the hallmarks of Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and efficient clearance of AB by cells by phagocytosis of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) may be an important mechanism for controlling or preventing disease onset. MicroActive® Resveratrol-SR is an antioxidant polyphenol with great promise for supporting healthy metabolism, normal insulin sensitivity and optimal blood flow & mdash; all of which may have cardiovascular, cognitive and anti-aging benefits.

MicroActive® CoQ10 is a dietary supplement, crystalline CoQ10 is poorly absorbed. In fact, on average, only three percent of the consumed dose is actually absorbed. As a result, numerous forms of CoQ10 claiming enhanced bioavailability have been introduced to the market. However, how well they are absorbed varies wildly from person to person. Some subjects will absorb these enhanced forms well while others will absorb only small quantities — uniform bioavailability is not guaranteed.

MicroActive® Policosanol is a natural supplement derived from sugar cane. It is a mixture of eight higher primary aliphatic alcohols isolated and purified from sugar cane wax. Policosanol promotes healthy platelet function and helps to maintain cholesterol levels that are already within the normal range. 1-14 Animal and human studies have also shown that policosanol is an antioxidant. 15-19 When used in long-term clinical trials, policosanol was well tolerated and safe.

MicroActive® Lutein Esters are a powerful antioxidant and a key ingredient for eye health, in particular reducing the onset of macular degeneration. As well, the esters of lutein are more cost effective than free lutein. MicroActive® Lutein Esters is a self-emulsifying system that micronizes and encapsulates the esters thereby improving absorption and creating a sustained release.
