MicroActive® Astaxanthin 10% is a free flowing water dispersible paste containing 2.5% of micronized Astaxanthin, suitable for soft gel capsules. The formulation provides sustained release of the active approximately twice that of the control. Small clinical studies indicate that it is 5.8 times more bioavailable as compared to the control. Derived from algae and selected sea animals, Astaxanthin has been proven to be an extremely powerful antioxidant and free radical scavenger. Uniquely able to pass through the blood-brain barrier, Astaxanthin has been shown to support cognitive health, retard macular degeneration and act as an effective anti-inflammatory agent. As a fat-soluble compound, there are however challenges to effective absorption.

Mechanism of Action

MicroActive Astaxanthin increases absorption by reducing particle size less than 10 microns thereby promoting more efficient transport through the digestive track and cell walls. In addition, the proprietary mix of polymers in MicroActive Astaxanthin slows the release rate allowing for absorption over a longer time period. Evidence supports the claim that this combination of greater absorption and sustained release creates a more uniform absorption from subject-to-subject, improving the probability that all consumers will benefit from the active.
