SW-244-40 VOC is an alkyltrialkoxysilane in an alcohol carrier. The silane is designed to penetrate deeply into the substrate and impart a high level of water and chloride ion screening. This provides the substrate with long lasting protection. SW-244-40 VOC will not leave a
residue on non-porous substrates such as glass windows, metal frames and painted surfaces.SW-244-40 VOC does not contain exempt solvents such as 1,1,1 trichloroethane that may be hazardous. For the proper VOC regulations in your specific location contact your Chemical Products Industries, Inc. representative.
Chemical Products' state-of-the-art protective treatments have developed a reputation by architects and building professionals as the premier solution for water repellents and sealers. Chemical Products' is dedicated to solving the destructive influence water intrusion and other elements have on building materials.- Benefits
- Excellent resistance to water intrusion
- Exhibits good beading effects
- No change in surface appearance
- Breathable system
- Deep penetration into the substrate
- High resistance to alkali attack
- High resistance to wind-driven rain
Applications & Uses

- Applications
For use on concrete to protect the reinforcing steel from corrosion due to the effects of water, deicing salts and other water borne chemicals. For use on brick masonry to protect against the entrance of wind-driven rain.
For use on concrete pavement on highways, and airport runways to reduce scaling due to deicer chemicals.
To reduce the effects of mildew, efflorescence, and stains on vertical concrete and masonry buildings.- Limitations
- Not intended for below-grade waterproofing. Do not proceed with application of water repellent when the temperature is less than 40°F or when rain and/or temperatures below 40°F are predicted within 6 hours after application, or when substrate is frozen, or surface temperature is less than 40°F. Do not proceed with application earlier than 3 days (72 hours) after surfaces become wet from rainfall or other sources. Caution should be taken with specialty coated glass or plastic windows. Check compatibility before application.

- As a standard procedure, fresh concrete should be allowed to dry for 28 days before application. All repointing must be completed and allowed to cure at least 3 days. Concrete repair and replacement must be completed prior to application. Patching materials, caulking, sealing materials, traffic paint must be fully cured before applying SW-244-40 VOC except when using asphaltic sealants and other products which are susceptible to solvent attack. While CPI Water Repellents are compatible with most sealants, specific products should be investigated prior to use. All surfaces must be cleaned to remove all traces of dirt, dust, efflorescence, mold, salt, grease, oil, asphalt, laitance, curing compounds, paint, coatings and other contaminants. Acceptable surface cleaning methods include shotblasting, sandblasting, waterblasting and chemical cleaners. Check with your Chemical Products Industries, Inc. representative to verify suitable cleaning methods, products and that the surface preparation is adequate. Before applying, it is recommended that preliminary tests be carried out to determine usage and to test the effectiveness of the treatment. A coverage rate of 150 square feet per gallon is recommended for dense concrete structures including high rises, parking garages and bridge decks. SW-244-40 VOC should be applied by low-pressure (15 to 25 psi) pumping equipment with a wet fan type spray nozzle. Alternate methods include nap roller (1”) or by brush. On vertical surfaces apply in a flooding application, from the bottom up so the material runs down 6 to 8 inches below the spray pattern. On horizontal surfaces the liquid material should pond on the surface at least 5 seconds before being absorbed. Coverage rates on horizontal concrete surfaces range from 100 to 250 sq. ft. per gallon. For best results two applications are recommended with the second application applied using a wet on wet technique, i.e., the surface is wet from the first application but not glossy. During application, precautions should be taken to protect the surrounding area from overspray and run off.
Packaging & Availability

- Availability
- SW-244-40 VOC is available in 5 and 55 gallon containers to approved applicators throughout the United States.
Storage & Handling
- Precautions
- SW-244-40 VOC is a flammable liquid and should be kept away from heat, sparks, and other sources of ignition. SW-244-40 VOC should be kept closed when not in use and should be stored at temperatures between 0° F and <120° F. Care should be taken to prevent moisture condensation in the container. Please refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet for more detailed information.
