While studying it, Prof. Reifen came to understand that chickpea, the popular legume that is so readily available in developing countries, and has been known and consumed for more than 3000 years  and has great potential for solving the challenge of how to feed the growing world, and can be a good starting point to answering consumers and industry needs: it is a green and sustainable crop, non-GMO & non-allergenic.
