- Applications
- Decorative Paints and Coatings - DeCAL 2043 is an ideal dispersing agent for water borne high gloss coatings because it is compatible with polypropylene glycol and other glycols used to promote wet edge time and film coalescence. DeCAL 2043 is effective at high temperatures above 100°C over a pH range of 5 - 12.
- Adhesives & Latex Compounds - DeCAL 2043 is used to disperse fillers and pigments in many products such as tile adhesives, grouts, fillers and water based adhesives and glues.
- Ceramics - DeCAL 2043 is used to stabilize dispersions of clay in ceramic casting slips.
- The polyphosphate dispersants sometimes used in water borne systems are not as stable to pH changes as DeCAL 2043 at high temperatures. DeCAL 2043 offers much better stability and improved shelf life for water borne paints and coatings.
- Application Method
- DeCAL 2043 should be thoroughly mixed with water before adding pigments and fillers to the system using high shear mixers. Using this method very high pigment loading can be achieved.
- The optimum dispersing efficiency is achieved at a pH 8.5 or thereabouts. The dosage required is between 0.5% - 2.0% calculated as supplied on weight of pigments and fillers.
