- DeCAL 9061 is a unique block and brick processing aid which improves compaction and density in semi-dry concrete applications. The blend of compaction aids and water inducers allows additional water to be added to the concrete without having an adverse effect on mix consistency, whilst improving dispersion of pigments providing more intense coloration.
- Increasing water content of the semi-dry mix hydrates cement more efficiently giving increased strength at all ages. Typically, in semi-dry concrete a low moisture content is required to achieve the desired consistency, however up to 28% of the cement can remain un-hydrated due to lack of water.
- DeCAL 9061 increases water demand by up to 25% whilst maintaining consistency of the finished product. This is vital for production of molded bricks and blocks where dimensional uniformity is crucial.
- Beneficially, use of DeCAL 9061 will allow use of saturated sands and aggregates on site. Generally, production will come to a standby as extra water in saturated sand and aggregates can make the mix too workable.
- Addition of DeCAL 9061 eliminates the effect of extra water allowing production to continue, saving downtime costs and loss of over-wet concrete. DeCAL 9061 effectively reduces permeability through improved compaction of the concrete units leading to a reduction in the occurrence of efflorescence.
- Through improved compaction of the concrete unit and increased water repellence, DeCAL 9061 significantly improves freeze/thaw durability alongside a dramatic reduction in the occurrence of efflorescence.
- Dosage
- Dosage rates vary depending on mix design, process, aggregate type, and the required consistency: Typical dosage rates range 200mls - 800mls per 100kg cement (0.20% - 0.80% by weight of cement).
- DeCAL 9061 should be added with the water or at the end of the mixing process and not directly onto the cement. A mixing time of at least 30 seconds is recommended after the addition of the admixture.
