RELEASE ST9 HM DRY is designed to replace the normal release coat (Release PP 25S or RELEASE K100D) in the production of BOPP adhesive packaging tapes, in order to achieve tapes which will be printable with a single-step printing machine (similar to PVC tapes, without using primer and release) using only suitable inks (see notes below). It can be also used as release agent for LDPE protective films with water borne acrylic adhesives. In this case it is used as final transparent top coat to protect the printed areas from the adhesive side to avoid transfer defects.

The best performance has been obtained with 0.5-0.6 g (dry)/sqm coating weight.
Concentration shall be adjusted accordingly with the coating system. For standard applications, we suggest diluting with toluene (or hexane)/IPA (75/25) at 12% and coating 4-5 g (wet)/sqm on flame treated BOPP film (minimum 42 dynes/cm). It is important to note that, being RELEASE ST9 HM DRY a heterogeneous product, the content of one single bag should be completely used up, without splitting its content into different batches.
Application temperature of the solution shall preferably be between 30 and 40°C, and never below 20°C. Stir well before use. Coating must be perfectly dry (less than 0.6 g/sqm of residual solvent). Hot-melt adhesives can be coated directly on line on the other treated side of the BOPP film.
