- It is a natural, non-toxic, and verified ingredient by the European Biocide Directive as an insect repellent (known in the UK as citriodiol™). The UK Ministry of Defense has deployed PMD-based product, Mosiguard Natural™, to provide an extra layer of protection for troops on the COVID19 front line and in August 2020, the UK government conducted tests proving PMDs effectiveness on corona.
- For local sales, we have backing from the Ministry of Health and Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) and our product is MBS certified.

The advantage of PMD is that it provides a residual, lasting, santising effect for 3+ hours after each application. Alcohol-based products will kill viruses and germs instantly but reinfection can occur immediately. This residual effect and its non-toxicity is what makes PMD unique. Kawandama Hills will continue to produce our own range of sanitizing products for the regional market as a proven effective antibacterial and antiviral. We currently sell Virisafe at our shipping container outlets in Lilongwe and Kasungu and have agreements with Chipiku and Shoprite grocery stores. Virisafe is also stocked by both boutique retail outlets and pharmacies in Lilongwe - and soon in Mzuzu and Blantyre.
