K-Ox™ 3EB is a partial butyl ester of a petroleum derivative. It is a dark brown, soft, semi-solid compound. K-Ox™ 3EB is highly polar in nature making it an excellent wetting agent that provides lubricity to formulated products. K-Ox™ 3EB functions by being attracted to metal surfaces, thereby providing a multi-molecular film which lowers the coefficient of friction and, at the same time, affords mild rust protection.

End Uses: Cutting Oils, Gear Oils, Metalworking Fluids

Functions: Wetting Agent

Applications

Lubricity can be improved in a variety of formulations with additions of 0.5% to 2.0%. K-Ox 3EB will materially aid in cutting oil and gear oil performance, especially in the presence of extreme pressure additives (phosphorus, sulfur, and chlorine). When blended with metallic sulfonates, a variety of oil and solvent type, water displacing, corrosion preventive compounds may be produced.
