Product Highlights

Science:

The skin is exposed to a myriad of xenobiotics that, together with other elements (e.g. UV radiation), generate reactive species. Reactive species can be based in oxygen (ROS), nitrogen (RNS) and carbonyl (RCS) and, at high levels, cause serious damage (e.g. lipid peroxidation, protein nitration and carbonylation), contributing to the appearance of aging signs. To prevent accumulation of xenobiotics and reactive species, cells rely on endogenous defense systems. Xenobiotics are metabolized through different phases that involve chemical transformation and excretion. Reactive species can be neutralized by small antioxidant or detoxified by a wide array enzymes.

Lipochroman™ molecule is a tocopherol analog that can capture reactive species and provide a detoxifying effect. When applied to the skin, antioxidative properties and parameters associated with aging were improved, while a depigmenting activity was also measured. Lipochroman™ AQO molecule is the water-soluble version of Lipochroman™ molecule, with enhanced stability and antioxidant profile thanks to its encapsulation in oil droplets.

Lipochroman™ Molecule - Efficacy Studies

In Vivo Efficacy

Cutaneous Antioxidative Capacity and Improvement of Aging Signs:

20 women (33-57 years old) applied a cream* with 0.05% Lipochroman™ molecule to half face and a placebo cream on the other half, twice a day for 28 days.

Better antioxidative properties: Recovery of elasticity and improvement in appearance of wrinkles and spots.

Helping to improve the skin tone

31 women (18-44 years old) applied a cream with 0.05% Lipochroman™ molecule to half face and a placebo cream on the other half. After 14, 28 and 56 days, the melanin index was measured by mexametry.

Dark spots were less visible suggesting a fairer complexion
