The history of the Grands Moulins de Strasbourg began in 1865. It was on the banks of the Ill in Illkirch-Graffenstaden that the Grands Moulins de Strasbourg were founded. During the first half of the 20th century, the history of the company was marked by the upheavals suffered in the region. The company will develop in France and Germany and will occupy a pivotal position which will be profitable to it. In 1902, Alsace was attached to Germany and the Grands Moulins were destroyed by fire. Rebuilt and operational a year later, they settled and prospered in the historic Port du Rhin district, thanks in particular to a majority stake in German mills and the development of river transport.
