Alcom® CFX

  • Alcom® CFX is the solution for challenging and extraordinary design concepts. Due to the glossy or matt metallic effects, applications demonstrate a very special and high-quality touch. In segments that are acknowledged by design such as Automotive Interiors, Consumer Electronics or Sport and Leisure, not only functionality is determinant but high-value layouts also play a large role.
  • Alcom® CFX gives a brilliant metallic surface aspect without any visible weld or flow lines that can be compared to galvanic or aluminium surfaces.
  • Alcom® CFX economizes cost intensive and pollutive lacquering or metallization processes whilst keeping a constant and lasting surface aspect. Furthermore, little scratches on the surface do not stand out with these mass colored compounds. The “intrinsic values“ of the material are also not influenced by small inadvertencies and damages during use.

Alcom® LIR

  • Alcom® LIR features optimized materials for infrared (IR) light appli- cations with high transmission in the near-IR spectrum and parti- cularly low transmission in the visible light spectrum. Thereby sen- sors and cameras can be hidden safely and fully functioning behind piano black lenses.
  • While hindering the transmission of visible light (wave length 380- 780 nm), Alcom® LIR enables full transparency and lowest haze in the infrared spectrum (from 780 nm). The visual experience is characte- rized by a deep and glossy black appearance. At the same time, IR- optical elements hidden behind a cover of Alcom® LIR remain fully functioning and safely protected against environmental impacts, such as visible stray light, dust, dirt or mechanical stresses.
  • Advanced processing technology and comprehensive know-how in formulation and production technology enable Alcom® LIR to be provi- ded in consistently high quality and with specified IR-optical properties.
  • This package has been convincing our customers for years, e.g. in the application areas of automotive driver assistance systems, for safety and surveillance cameras and in consumer electronics. Typical applications include proximity sensors, IR camera lenses, protective screens for IR-LEDs and bezels for gesture control systems.

ALCOM® DET

  • One big challenge for quality managers in food processing companies is to prevent contamination of finished products with broken plastic parts from manufacturing equipment and accessories as well as pieces of intermediate packaging films. This task is growing in complexity as food processing plants become more and more automated. To counter this, MOCOM has developed
  • Alcom® DET for metal and X-ray detection. Through cooperation with customers and producers of metal and X-ray detection equipment, MOCOM is able to develop and produce customized materials for any requirements.
  • Customers can choose between a variety of polymers (e. g. PE, PP, POM, PA, PPS, etc.). The level of detectability can be adjusted with “taggants” (detectable additives) to fit the customer‘s detection technique and requirements.
  • With Alcom® DET, food processors and their suppliers can make sure that small pieces of plastic can be detected by using metal and X-ray detection equipment in food processing lines.
  • These compounds perform very well in food processing applications like food conveyor systems, cleaning accessories, tool handles as well as flexible films used as liners or hoods for bulk food packaging.

ALCOM® LG
 

  • Alcom® Light Guiding is a product line for light guide elements based on polycarbonate. With the usual high quality, these products achieve optimum light output and targeted light distribution. Not only can the lighting properties of the material be adapted and changed according to customer requirements.
  • The demands on lighting technology applications have become more and more complex in the last 20 years - often even compromises have to be made. For this reason we have developed Alcom® LG on the basis of polycarbonate.
  • This powerful solution combines polymer-specific advantages such as optimal functionality (integration of snap hooks), with excellent optical properties.
  • By measuring or specifying, among other things, transmission, haze and half power angle, we ensure constant lighting properties at the highest level for all applications. Together with the desired mechanical material properties, Alcom® LG ensures absolutely constant quality in the application. In the Light Guiding segment, numerous products are already available for a wide range of applications in functional, ambient or search lighting.

ALCOM® WP
 

Alcom® Wear Protect represents a comprehensive portfolio of com- pounds with optimized low friction and abrasion properties. The plastics extend the lifespan of parts subjected to mechanical loads and eliminate the need for additional lubrication. Compounds in the Alcom® Wear Protect series are based on different thermoplastics (PA, PBT, PC, PC+ABS, POM, PPS etc.). The use of high- quality special fillers improves the tribological characteristics of the plastics in their final application, making them less susceptible to wear.

  • PTFE that is subjected to friction forms a lubricating film between the two sliding components. This reduces the “stick-slip” phenomenon.
  • Silicone forms a lubricating film on the surface. It reduces screeching noises and, in combination with other fillers, the coefficient of friction.
  • Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2 ) is used for improved sliding frictional behavior as a solid lubricant in partially crystallized plastics such as PA, POM.
  • Aramid is extremely wear resistant and ensures a good sliding behavior in combination with other fillers.
  • Graphite is particularly effective both in and under water. It works excellent as a sliding friction modifier.
  • Carbon fibers increase stiffness and strength. They act as a sliding friction modification and dissipate any electric charges that are built up by friction.
  • Special fillers for non-reinforced plastics are alternatives to PTFE or molybdenum disulfide because they are characterized with better mechanical properties and low deposits in the tool.

ALCOM® TC


Alcom® Thermally conductive combines high thermal conductivity with the simplicity and design freedom of plastics. Especially in complex component assemblies, Alcom® TC opens new possibilities for optimal heat management. One of the main reasons for the failure of electronic components is high temperature load. In order to prevent hot spots and failure, thermally conductive materials are necessary. When compared to standard plastics, Alcom® TC offers a significantly improved thermal conductivity which consequently results in a lon- ger service life and improved performance of components in the E+E industry.


Alcom® TC also offers design freedom for injection molding, enabling complex molded parts and versatile tooling possibilities. Furthermo- re, when comparing to conventional materials like metal, Alcom® TC offers a significant weight reduction and is not prone to corrosion. To minimize wear on tools and machinery Alcom® TC only uses fillers that possess low abrasion characteristics. In the Alcom® TC range interesting products are available for Electri- cal & Electronics, Automotive and Engineering industries. Depending on the requirements and application area, Alcom® TCE (thermally and electrically conductive) or Alcom® TCD (thermally conductive and elec- trically insulating) are available. ALCOM® MS
 

The Alcom® MS brand stands for different product groups with different functionalities, which are created by a specific surface modification. The properties range from excellent glossy to noiseless surfaces.

Alcom® MS – Anti Squeak
 

  • With this product series, squeaking and creaking noises can be effectively avoided in plastic components. Disturbing noises can occur at contact of two plastic components due to the „stick-slip“ effect.
  • This means that two plastic components in contact switch between static and sliding friction which causes the typical squeaking and creaking noises. The use of Alcom® MS Anti Squeak prevents the occurrence of unwanted noises through surface modification, therefore the use of lubricants or felt mats belong to the past.

  • Alcom® LD manages to avoid the hotspots shown in the picture and thus ensures optimal light distribution. In addition, these products enable the harmonization of operating elements in a day and night design and ensure that illuminated symbols are illuminated regard less of the viewing angle.

  • Alcom® Light Diffusion Deep Color products combine optimal lighting properties with elegant design: During normal illumination, glossy surfaces shine with deep, saturated colors, when backlit however, illuminated colored substrate symbols / displays can become apparent; pin-sharp and without color change.
  • On request, selected grades with different transmissions optionally with sharp or soft backlit contour representation can be supplied.
  • Concealed functional elements below the surface are completely hidden thanks to the optimized Alcom® LDDC products, thus enabling sophisticated surfaces from a single assembly.
  • With Alcom® LDDC icons, displays and buttons can be discreetly concealed and optimally illuminated, for example in the automotive interior or in consumer electrical appliances. This way optical displays are only visible when activated.
