Properties and Applications

EDAPLAN 396 is a VOC-free wetting agent and dispersant for laked azo pigments in aqueous media. EDAPLAN 396 is also recommended for organic pigments (e.g. phthalocyanine pigments) and nanoscale, transparent iron oxides and titanium dioxides as well as for carbon blacks. It can be used for the production of coating systems based on polymer emulsions and water-soluble resins (air and oven drying, 2K systems) as well as for the production of aqueous and glycol-containing, binderfree pigment concentrates. EDAPLAN 396 stabilizes pigment dispersions and reduces the mill-base viscosity. Gloss, color strength and hiding power are improved and reflocculation is prevented.

Recommended Levels and Use

Ladder studies are recommended to determine optimum concentration level. Normal dosage ranges from 10 - 50 % EDAPLAN 396 in delivery form for organic pigments and carbon blacks, calculated on pigment solids. For dosage recommendations of specific pigments and for determination of dispersant demand please consult our additional technical information and guide formulations.
