- Properties and Applications
EDAPLAN 492 is a VOC-free wetting agent and dispersant for carbon blacks in aqueous media. EDAPLAN 492 is also recommended for the dispersion of organic pigments (e.g. phthalocyanine and azo pigments) and nanoscale transparent iron oxides and titanium dioxides. It can be used for the production of coating systems based on polymer emulsions and water-soluble resins (air and oven drying, 2K systems) as well as for the production of aqueous and glycol-containing, binder-free pigment concentrates. EDAPLAN 492 stabilizes pigment dispersions and reduces the mill-base viscosity. Gloss, color strength and hiding power are improved and reflocculation is prevented.
- Recommended Levels and Use
Ladder studies are recommended to determine optimum concentration level. Normal dosage ranges from 10 - 50 % EDAPLAN 492 in delivery form for organic pigments and carbon blacks, calculated on pigment solids. For dosage recommendations of specific pigments and for determination of dispersant demand please consult our additional technical information and guide formulations.
