- Boronia megastigma grows to less than a meter. It has small leaves and small cup-shaped flowers, which occur in spring. The plant is quite striking in that the flowers are bright yellow inside whilst the exterior is an interesting red-brown color. The flowers have a wonderful fragrance and are used in the production of essential oils. The plant is traditionally found in south west WA between Albany and Perth Plant flowers in spring and is harvested when 80% of buds are open. Flowers are combed off the plants by hand or machine. The oil has a delightful perfume – an intensely rich flowery aroma with a sweet fruity character that is uplifting and refreshing. It is a great addition to perfumes and aromatics due to its rich, intense aroma with long lasting properties A top note golden brown, thick oil, it is usually distilled by non chlorinated solvent extraction of the flowers and leaves, usually with a food grade hexane.

- Common Uses
- Boronia oil can have a variety of uses, such as in Aromatherapy, diffusers and massage oils but as a rare and high cost oil it is not commonly used in these fields. It is used primarily in perfumes and aromatics, due to its beautiful aroma – an intense long lasting fragrance that is refreshing and uplifting. It is a beautiful, luxurious oil and often used in high end perfumes.
