It is obtained through a steam distillation process from the Boswellia tree which belongs to Burseraceae plant family. With golden yellow flowers and feathery leaves the plant grows to a height of 2 meters. It is a perennial herb tree which is known for its sweet and spicy fragrance. Frankincense Frereana typically grows at higher elevations, giving this oil a unique chemical makeup. The variety is high in pinene, thujene and cymene giving it a great anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antispasmodic and analgesic properties. Frankincense Frereana essential oil also commonly known as Maydi is the “King of all Frankincense. For thousands of years, spiritual leaders have used Frankincense during worship and meditation. Spirituality and nature are deeply intertwined. Frankincense- Frereana essential oil is both of the earth and of something deeper, something beyond human understanding. This Frankincense essential oil was introduced to Europe by Frankish Crusaders more than 6000 years. It has been traded on the Arabian Peninsula, Greek Herodotus was familiar with it and in the 13th century Chinese writers wrote on the origin of frankincense.
